Guess Who I Sat Behind At The Kanye West "Runaway" Premiere in Paris?

Yes, Anna Dello Russo and her headpiece!

She's really one of the most charming characters in fashion today.

I can't decide whether or not she is selfish or just fashionable. Either way I love her

How was the movie by the way? I've heard that is great, a masterpiece...
You went to the Paris premiere too didn't you? Pics please

Anonymous America said ... (3:08 PM) :

I was thining of being a peacock for halloween this year, but after seeing the silhouette of this hat i might as well just be Anna dello Russo!

Blogger Marthita Estrada said ... (3:09 PM) :

So, how the movie? I've heard it is great, a masterpice. Pics please... Kanye's outfits lately have been great, why don't you post some of them?

Blogger Trivia said ... (3:09 PM) :

Is covering half the view charming?..

Blogger Michelle Bobb-Parris said ... (3:09 PM) :

Ha! Awesome.

I guess the one time one wouldn't care/dare to ask the lady to kindly remove her hat.

Not blocking the view, but part of it.

She is indeed fantastic.

Blogger Bronwyn said ... (3:10 PM) :

Anyone who wears a headpiece that big to an event where people behind her want to be able to see, is also rather inconsiderate of others, wouldn't you say?

Blogger Cinta said ... (3:10 PM) :

hahaha i love the picture!

This reminds me of the journalist who complained he saw a show through Tavi's gigantic bow... except you're not complaining!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:25 PM) :

Charming, maybe. I would think "selfish" might be a better descriptor of someone who wears that when sitting front row. The show isn't about her is it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:26 PM) :

Wow that was a huge thing! But she is really awsome!

Who would have the nerve to say, Madam, would you removed that bird from your head during the show ?

LOL

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (3:59 PM) :

Her blog is amazing, too. The little golden twinkles that waft down the screen when you move your mouse/cursor etc is very fabulous!

Anonymous Caroline said ... (3:59 PM) :

She totally is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 PM) :

Agree w/Bronwyn. She could have at least sat in the back row so as not to block anyone's view.

Blogger Rosa creativa said ... (4:11 PM) :

Blogger ÖğrenÖğret said ... (6:07 PM) :

Okay, so why not remove the enormous (yes beautiful indeed) headpiece while watching a screen with many people behind you unable to see a significant part of it?!
She could afterwards put it back on her head to remain fabulous.
Consideration + Style = Gratitude + Glamour.

Anonymous Isabelle said ... (6:12 PM) :

I would have guessed Lady Gaga.. but it looks like more and more people are copying her crazy style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

She is great, but this is definitely the discourteous side! There are some situations in which it's more elegant not to draw attention to oneself.

Anonymous Anna B said ... (7:15 PM) :

I really don't see the charm in blocking other people from seeing the screen. No, I really don't see it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 PM) :

AWWW man i thought you sat behind Lady Gaga and her head piece. well it was still cool

Anonymous alexandra said ... (7:57 PM) :

totally thought it was gaga .. haha oops

Blogger Ella said ... (8:01 PM) :

Lucky duck! She's so inspirational, I always imagine her as the adult version of Tavi Gevinson...

Blogger Meghan Pickrell said ... (8:03 PM) :

I take it they didn't do a "hat speech" before the show...Oh well, at least it was an experience.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:09 PM) :

She is so adorable

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 PM) :

It's one thing to wear a fabulous headpiece. It's another to wear it all the way through a film screening, disrupting others' ability to see and enjoy the film and essentially insuring that one's own presence has more impact on some viewers than the film or event itself. Sorry, Sart, but I see nothing charming about that. Arrogant and self-indulgent, yes; charming, no.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 PM) :

wow that's an interesting head piece, sort of reminds me of grass, but tops for her :)

Blogger Sarah said ... (9:53 PM) :

Awesome. I totally agree that it would be annoying if it were anyone else and she is very adorable. Cool picture!

Blogger Jennifer said ... (10:32 PM) :

That is NOT 'charming' at all. I don't give a damn who it is, if it was the President wearing a hat that obstructed my view, I'd ask him to remove it. That's just plain rude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 PM) :

i thought it was going to be tavi. what a precious baby blogger.

Anonymous Maryanne said ... (10:42 PM) :

Cher did this look in 1986 at the Oscars.
Bob Mackie headress.

Anonymous Jason said ... (11:48 PM) :

Fabulous, but I would hate to sit behind her in any sort of event; how inconsiderate.

Blogger Arantxa Chavarria said ... (12:25 AM) :

i totally agree with YOU!!! only she would wear those headpieces..

Anonymous BC said ... (2:06 AM) :

Gorgeous headpiece and beautiful juxtaposition with the ballerinas on the screen but a little inconsiderate. Perhaps that's the point?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:38 AM) :

LOL I was thinking it was her. Honestly I love her, but I don't think I would ever want to sit behind her. I'd be sad like one of those people who go to a concert only to end up behind a sign of a screaming girl or at an awards show behind lady gaga and her meat dress or one of her head pieces....sad.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 AM) :

Perhaps charming, definetely not chic

Blogger 82Brute said ... (9:20 AM) :

My first guess would have been Lady Gaga. I'm glad you found it charming. I would not have been so charitable had I been forced to gaze upon her folly when I had come to see something else.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

Uproar when Tavi wears a huge headpiece to a show, but charming when Anna does the same thing? Hmm.

Blogger Mertxe Hernàndez said ... (9:40 AM) :

Anonymous Chele said ... (11:02 AM) :

You know, I love her, and I LOVE her fearless, fun sense of style! But......I can't help but think it's a tiny bit rude - if you know you are going to a film or show - to wear something that you know will mar the experience of others? So as much as I adore her, better judgement next time maybe? And long live the ADR's of the world who dress for fun & fabulousness...not for trends!xxo

Blogger Sophia said ... (11:07 AM) :

Great Shot! The headpiece looks amazing. But it isn't too nice for the one that is seated behind her (:

Anonymous Séverine said ... (11:17 AM) :

hahaha you were in Dello-Russo-vision ?...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:47 AM) :

She's fabulous, but it's rather rude to block the view... I'm surprised she would do that.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:26 PM) :

Anna is ever Anna and her style is the most interesting respect on the other fashion editors...The "vey famous" Mrs Wintour hasn't a quarter of Anna's style and sense of fashioN!

Anonymous L N said ... (12:45 PM) :

ha ha ha, Ridiculous

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:21 PM) :

Anna's hat is far more important than you having an unobscured view!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:44 PM) :

I can't help but think of Isabella Blow ... and how much I miss seeing her in the fashion scene. It's good to see her influence on the next generation.

Anonymous Marco Nardella said ... (5:15 PM) :

Anna loves fashion without being fashionista. She has the inner capabilities to be both eccentric, sophisticated and simple. Marco

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:56 PM) :

I knew it was Anna even before I scrolled down! haha Shes the best!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 PM) :

Maybe Sart was being ironic about the "charming" part? Maybe by taking this picture and posting it, he would like Anna to realize how her ridiculous fashion can come at the cost of others!

Just my thoughts...:)

Ohhhhhh Anna. She would wear a head piece like that to a showing of a Kanye West music video. Totally inappropriate for the occasion but you got to love her for having the guts to wear things like that. God I love her.

I would say inconsiderate, not charming. Why didn't she sit in the back row so everyone else could see the film?

Blogger Meera said ... (9:53 PM) :

A legendary picture.

Anonymous Lucia said ... (6:42 AM) :

Anon.. 10.30 PM, I was actually thinking the same after a while.. Yeah maybe Sart is a bit ironic about it?!

I don't know Anna DR , I have never ever met her, or seen her live, so I am not the right person to critizize her, but as she is a media person, and a person who enjoys being in the middle of happening, I am sure she can take critics from unknown people.
Some famous people in the fashion business seems to me NICE, i.e everyone prob agree that Garance seems to be a really NICE person. The same thing I see in Kate Lanphear, and in Viv. Its something about the face and the smile, and of course what qualities speaks to me. Some one else might find Viv's smile totally annoying i.e. But in ADR, no, I do not see anything Nice in her. She might be lovely actually, but a person who blocks the view like that, can't be really nice.. or charmig can she..?
OR maybe she removed the head piece right after Sart had his picture taken..?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:55 PM) :

great photo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:27 AM) :

Oh, I wish you would have taken a picture of her afterward in the light. I would have loved to seen the entire outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:31 PM) :

I'm on the side of those who think it's inconsiderate. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have been OK sitting behind someone who did the same thing.

Blogger 82Brute said ... (7:27 AM) :

I wanted to add another comment about this shot. At first I only saw my own annoyance, but it's actually an amazing shot. There's humor, irony and the composition is marvelous. The silhouetted feathers looming over the dancers in their purple tulle is lovely and seems a nod to Degas.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 PM) :

Haha, 82Brute is totally right! Everyone goes on about if this is annoying or charming, but actually the picture itself is great! And there is a lot of humor in it.

Blogger 82Brute said ... (5:39 PM) :

Re: Humor in the shot. It also brought to mind a classic Bugs Bunny cartoon called "Hare Do". Go to 2:24 for the moment.

The Runaway film was outstanding! Accept it for what it is and don't get caught up in what the media says about the creator and you will enjoy the story.

Blogger Julia, the Thanksgiving Girl said ... (3:47 PM) :

Hahaha, how unfortunate to be seated right behind her when she's wearing THAT lol

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:01 AM) :

i'm also on the side who thinks it's inconsiderate. no matter how beautiful/stylish/fashionable the hat/headpiece, one should always have it off when it's blocking the way of another, or at the dinner table, and other such social situations where taking it off would be the norm.

no exceptions to the person or headpiece!

Anonymous Zana Fauzi said ... (8:42 AM) :
