On the Street....Country Style, Milan

While I was working on this image Garance mentioned that it was the perfect way to end the week that started with the young Mennonite girl from last Monday's post.

Vintage dress? Beautiful fabric. Feminine, soft, sexy that was ubiquitous throughout Europe. The boots complete this country/vintage theme from Monday and this photo could be young woman pre-war/40s Europe.Porcelain skin that should never see the sun and a face that belongs in a rennaisance portrait.

Blogger Lou said ... (12:34 PM) :

The colors are exquisite and softly announce autumn. The look is very tender and sweet, but stops short of being precious due to the no-nonsense styling of that 'darling dress': the sturdy flat shoe, the large leather bag, the absence of jewelry. Perfectly done. She looks a bit like Miranda Kerr.

I just love this photograph. Yes, its the perfect ending to a perfect week, photography wise! I love the pink dress, and the elegance of the young woman. Her purse and old fashioned type lace-up boots are the perfect complement for the Vintage dress. She belongs in a painting.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:37 PM) :

I am shamelessly in love with this feminine, vintage-inspired look ... delicate, whimsical dresses are best paired with a bit of leather and she does it to perfection. When pretty much this exact outfit is reproduced to death by every high street store it does make it slightly less exciting, but here she just looks totally unique and jealous-makingly stunning. X

Anonymous Maya Popkin said ... (5:46 PM) :

Oppositions in STYLE is what denotes an intriguing look . Well, allow me to reiterate -it has the potential to denote one. Within the realm of oppositions - masculinity VS femininity is the most fascinating to me and this ensemble is a great example of that. She nailed it with the bag as it speaks the same DIALECT as the shoes.

The innocent waif look belies a sophisticated, beautiful woman whose loveliness is enhanced rather than subdued by the so-called "country" style. Once again, The Sartorialist has delivered a masterful photograph to the viewer.

Love Love the dress.
I was just thinking today how great this type of dress looks on women. I have a similar one in green that i adore. I also love the way she carries her purse. I was sicussing this with a woman last night who felt she needed strap bags to keep her hands free. I suggested holding the purse at the elbow. The old-fashioned elegance of a purse in the crook of the arm.

Have always loved this look. Of course, she is feminine and beautiful so it helps.

Nice little dress and that length really does suit everybody. It actually makes the legs look longer. If you're short, you've been told too many times that a mini makes you look taller, which is a cruel joke. Take a new fresh look at proportion and your ideas will change.

She is gorgeous! She looks like a nymph. And I love her posture, her essence in general. She is beautiful.

I love your Boots. I was looking out for some Casual Ankle Boots for my outfits.

I can die peacefully, for i have just fallen in love! She looks like she was summoned to earth because all the other angels were getting jealous of her. Oh my Juliet!
Loving always, Your secret Romeo.

I swear she is wearing the same exact boots!
Either way, I love how she wears the boots in both photos, she has got some chic style.

I love this look!! it reminds me of me in the late 80's when I would shop at jet rag on melrose and put my vintage 40's & 50's dresses with my doc's. do you think 40 is too old to relive the look?

I love the romantic, sheer girly dress with the boots. The contrast really works well, very cute!

love the soft, feminie, flowy dress and the classic matching bag and boots. her beautiful yet noncholant face with pulled back hair tops it off. gorgeous!
