Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:15 AM) :

wow :) I like the briefcase and the umbrella!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:15 AM) :

I love the chocolate brown with the blues. The matching of his bag and glasses adds such a nice dash of warm color, and the green umbrella just makes it all pop. Wonderful!

Gentlemen never wear brown... or do they?
Great pic anyway.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:04 AM) :

how classic!
i adore his glasses, those brown lenses are divine...
i wish there were classically styled men like this that existed in my world.

Anonymous delamole said ... (9:12 AM) :

spent years there,so many memories,no matter if the style is right, you got to have style, and if you walk along that street you will understand what style is...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

"wether in a winter or summer weight, plain or pinstriped, double- or single- breasted, the high- class brown suit will always be a power player in any male wardrobe aspiring to permanent stylishness."

that´s what alan flusser says/writes anyway. i tend to believe him...

Blogger Laguna Beach Fogey said ... (9:20 AM) :

This is an outstanding look! Love the chocolate DB suit (linen?), shirt with spread collar and banker stripes, pocket square, specs, and leather case. Plus, I like the trimmed haircut and appropriately short sideburns, which contrast well with the tie askew and flamboyant cuffs. Well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 AM) :

I much prefer these real life shots to those from the runways.

Blogger Shey said ... (9:42 AM) :

Great suit, I wonder if that's the reason he has refused to let it go and still wears it even pinned because it won't close anymore? It's a great color and I love the briefcase. =)

Anonymous Alessandro said ... (9:57 AM) :

Finally, Scott, after all the silly and ridiculous looking models wearing even more ridiculous clothes you give us a true elegant gentleman. Style not fashion!

Blogger LE CALZATURE said ... (10:09 AM) :

I like the double-breasted. And the combination brown withe the blue Striped Chemise. Bello!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 AM) :

Here is a man who knows himself and appreciates visual harmony. I would not be able to take my eyes off him if I saw him on the street. No narcissism there! I am a woman of the same age, and I see a beautiful, classic, and intelligent man who I would love to be close to, perhaps.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 AM) :

Love the glasses!

Anonymous proletarian Great Gatsby said ... (10:17 AM) :

I'm not original.I like the color combination:land(the brown suit)/sky(the blue shirt).It's elegant,sport and youthful.

Love a brown suit-he wears it admirably. Curious about the flipped up cuffs on his shirt?

Blogger Klever Girl said ... (11:43 AM) :

This morning I had my doubts about wearing brown and blue. I went for it and feels great to see this color choice does work well in summer.

Wish I had a briefcase.

Blogger The Red Umbrella said ... (12:52 PM) :

It's time to press the suit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 PM) :

What a pair of cuffs! They're not folded, just kind of flipped, and it really looks like a mistake but.. He has done the same with both!
What a man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 PM) :

I like the look of the linen suit, but I've seen too many that look ridiculously wrinkled, so I don't know if I would buy one, given how hard it would be to keep it pressed.

Anonymous A. said ... (1:10 PM) :

He looks great, very stylish!

Blogger Rebecca Maureen said ... (1:33 PM) :

I wish more men dressed like this...of all ages. I love the texture of your photos.

Anonymous victoria jesmaine said ... (2:03 PM) :

love the shade of the tan briefcase against that kinda forest green of the umbrella. sweet colour combination, definitely stealing it.

Blogger A.E said ... (2:21 PM) :

Lovely photo...shame you cut his fingers off! Men in Florence (that I see through blogs) always seem to be exceptionally well-dressed...is this a universal thing, or do you just get lucky? Great suit, classic. :)

Feedback, as ever, is HUGELY appreciated. x

Blogger Monkini said ... (2:27 PM) :

Is this Rudy Giuliani's italian relative?
He turns a brown linen suit into a colorful, harmonious ensemble which paradoxically remains classy, not clownish. It possibly looks conservative because the cut of the shirt, tie and suit is classic, and the fit is perfect. Still, combining these colors so well requires incredible taste.

Blogger Noumia's papers said ... (2:34 PM) :

How old is this man ?!
He is so chic ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:42 PM) :

I love this look, the spread collar, the great subtlety of the tie, and the suit which is probably old but looks great anyway. Distinguished is what's missing in fashion these days!

Blogger renaud roubaudi said ... (3:02 PM) :

La grande classe !

Anonymous Veneziana said ... (3:20 PM) :

I discovered this blog a few days ago and I'm totally in love with it. I prefer these pictures in comparison to those from the runway.

By the way, this one is very beautiful, you definitely have an eye for elegance.

Regards from Venice!

Blogger BobKentNoVa said ... (3:38 PM) :

From your photos, it seems like the men of Florence can pull together clothing elements better than men anywhere else. The brown linen suit with the blue shirt and tie work perfectly.

Blogger brightlightsbigcity said ... (3:40 PM) :

I love the way the jacket is carefully/carelessly held on the single button.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:26 PM) :

Everything is just off, to the point of perfection. . .

Blogger the girl from back then said ... (5:07 PM) :

It makes my day whenever I see beautiful old people. It gives me hope that I can be like them when I grow old. It's so bad that we treat old people differently. Personality stays the same no matter how old you get! And you just captured a perfect example..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 PM) :

Your pics are always so great ! I just bought your book, let us know if you come to Montreal, there is a lot of great men&women that might inspire you here ! Au plaisir.

Anonymous CoudreMODE said ... (6:04 PM) :

I wish our board of directors dressed this well.

Anonymous Danilo said ... (7:03 PM) :

When I moved to Italy, I was underwhelmed by my generation's style (I'm 20): it's crass and highly unoriginal, with very little personal flair.
The older men, on the other hand, are a treat! I'm so glad to see them on your blog. If you have the opportunity, do come to Rome. Like the pantheon, the real style lasts and outshines the modern junk.

Anonymous Luna said ... (11:12 PM) :

OMG this man looks a lot like my best friend's grandpa!...
Anyway great great great colours. Look how his ventiquattrore (briefcase) matches the glasses and tie pattern!
And the carless way he seems to wear the jacket of his linen suit. And what about the cuffs?!!

Too good to be true.

Blogger Blog Moderator said ... (1:40 AM) :

I love his style and elegant disheveled look; the slightly upturned cuffs, the imperfect tie and the pocket square make it a personal and unique outfit!

Awesome look!

Blogger archivarius2@gmail.com said ... (2:09 PM) :

The green umbrella is very much old Tuscany. The traditional umbrella of Tuscan shepherds and countrymen was deep green, this seems to be its city version, but in the same shade.

Blogger Christina said ... (2:54 PM) :

Really love this guy's specs and briefcase. Accessories are key!

Blogger aivi said ... (8:22 AM) :

Wow. Reminds me of a young businessman that was on the same flight as me; he was wearing a brown pinstriped suit that was a shade almost closer to grey than brown, and his shoes were divine. I kinda wanted to ask him where he bought them, but I didn't dare.
Brown suits look so great, but most of the time the shade or the fabric is wrong, making them look quite drab. This gentleman's choice is perfect, and it would seem to be a well-loved old favourite :)
And now I really am thinking about going for a short trip to Florence and some other Italian cities.

Anonymous Anna said ... (7:08 PM) :

I love the colors and patterns in this pic. The bag is a beautiful addition. I bet he's a professor of some sort =-)

Oh my.
There's a charm, that only aged man can have.

Who doesn't want to sit with this gentleman and hear the story of his life?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:05 PM) :

What a wonderful breath of fresh air! Scott, you often show hipster models with dubious hairstyles and hideous, colourful clothes, but this gentleman is old-style classy!

Blogger Eilish said ... (3:32 AM) :

I love his bag. Such lovely pictue :)

http://faialofa.blogspot.com

Blogger Brummagem Joe said ... (7:35 AM) :

......another knockout image of someone who is almost certainly a Florentine attorney (the bag is the giveaway).....the look is so good I'm thinking I have to get a db brown linen jacket made

Blogger Tom said ... (7:35 AM) :

My wife and I share a similar LV briefcase in the same shade as this suit: it never occurred to me to pair that colour with blue.
Linen does crease badly, but is so comfortable in hot weather.
Nice to think, regardless of the comments, he has probably been using a similar combo for decades. Style is easy, because it isn't fashion.

Blogger Zbarsky said ... (4:45 AM) :

this image is beautiful! everything from the colour of his bag to the way his fingers are here. perfection

blue and black wow
so interesting, nice!!
I love his bag

Blogger Ndumiso Dlamini said ... (2:25 AM) :

the electric blue against the brown is amazing, wow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

Wow. This is a really good example of the perfect suit you can pull off. The suit is slightly wrinkled; it's textured, brown, but it works for this man and keeps him at the center of attention, while the things he wears under keep him looking elegant. I feel like, sometimes, a basic black suit can wear a man, rather than him wearing the suit. You need to put the right attention into your clothes to be able to really look like yourself in them.
