Top Looks....Bottega Veneta, Milano

Today was a very good day of menswear shows in Milano. It started early (very early) at Bottega Veneta and just ended at Prada with stops at Ferragamo, Ferre, and Moncler along the way.

Bottega Veneta was so strong: the color options, the focus on sportswear, and the casting of masculine, virile models.

I'm very curious about where the prices will come in on this collection. Even though the design details are fantastic, I don't want to spend a ton of money on cargo shorts.

excellent, but it will be very expensive.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:54 PM) :

wow,
a lot of times the clothes from fashion shows is unwearable, but this is just great.casual, simple!
Love the pictures1

Blogger San said ... (5:07 PM) :

Yeah, real men, not those boys that they call male models these days. I really prefer these guys.

While I really like Bottega Venetas stuff, I think they are way to expensive.

I also loved the fact that they used very masculine men, not all men are pretty, some men are tough!

Loving the colourways. Nice pics.

Sadly Tomas Meier's designs normally come with a big price tag. Still dreaming of one of his pieces...

Blogger M said ... (6:25 PM) :

very ruged and tough but sophisticated and interesting details and the colors enhance that, also yey for the casting choice makes the clothes look alive

Blogger Keith said ... (7:36 PM) :

Those sandals are rocking my world. There is nothing in this collection that I wouldn't wear.

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (7:49 PM) :

Beautiful shots, Scott. The guy in red is shot particularly well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:54 PM) :

blah blah blah fashion...those models are totally HOTTTTTT!!! :) So tired of the pretty boys...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 PM) :

I like the adventurous, Ernest Hemingway quality to this collection. The first guy looks different from the rest, less polished, but all the models are white. Really the fashion world needs to get with it and bring some real world variety to their models. It gets a little boring....

Blogger N. E. Levey said ... (9:31 PM) :

That's a good point you make Scott, about price point for this collection. I can see people shelling out for jackets of this type, but even with the BV name, shorts are not exactly investment pieces.

Anonymous rosie said ... (9:35 PM) :

scott, these pictures are to die for! the clarity of your images really show the fantastic looks, well done!

Anonymous TRVS said ... (9:43 PM) :

The modern safari man....

Anonymous Kristin Bungart said ... (10:54 PM) :

Love the casual jackets and shorts, the cargo's, but I am afraid you might be right about the dough!!
The color's are so rich.

Blogger Semi Expat said ... (10:58 PM) :

Hmmmm be still my beating heart - great models!! And the clothes aren't bad either.Love the bags too.

Blogger Olivia said ... (11:28 PM) :

Wow those guys and the clothes are really really hot

Anonymous neha said ... (11:41 PM) :

Awesome collection . Contrasting this with your previous post on prada's men collection - it does look like a case of Men Vs Boys. BV is kicking Prada's ass :) .... The prices are going to be insane though

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:25 AM) :

More of these real men! Not loving the strange rust coloured outfit with the bare midriff or the Hans-the-1977-tourist leather short shorts, but what an interesting show overall, discernably different from the rest.

Anonymous personal stylist said ... (12:41 AM) :

I also think you've made a good point about the price point for this collection... I love the relaxed feel of the collection, neutral colours and the models aren't too bad either :)

Anonymous Z Fashion Blog said ... (12:54 AM) :

Bottega Veneta and Ferragamo were my favourite shows of yesterday.

Anonymous j said ... (1:58 AM) :

hands in the pockets... perfect? i think so.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:32 AM) :

shorts and these shoes combo is great...gives me the vibe of "into the wild", but in the city. Also great models, great legs they have xD

Blogger Star said ... (2:48 AM) :

Found myself saying, "Oh, yes! Oh, yes!," til I got to the rust-colored ensemble...that, to me, is decidedly a fall-time color.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:55 AM) :

Oh my gosh, the guys are just hunky hunks! They are soooo sexy!

...the clothes are also cool! Especially the sandals!

Blogger Martha said ... (4:24 AM) :

Really beautiful autumnal colours, I particularly like the rusty colour in the 5th shot. M X

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 AM) :

The models are wearing the garments for a change! Usually the reverse. Beautiful men x thanks for the great pics

Not feeling this one. Looks like the cast of STOMP got lost in the Australian out back. I love the models, though. Very masculine and strong.

Blogger KM said ... (2:20 PM) :

Gotta say, I like all these individual pieces a lot, but I'm not so much a fan of all the monochromaticism happening here. I hope it's not a sign of things to come in street style fashion

Blogger Prutha Raithatha said ... (4:46 PM) :

loving all the looks...very cool and different but still very wearable

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:00 PM) :

Got to ask. Guy in blue, second pic in. Who is he?!

I have to say, though, leather shorts seem like kind of an paradox to me.

Anonymous namhenderson said ... (11:03 PM) :

I love the second image. The gentleman in the all blue. Slouchy but fitted.

model in the blue with the chest tattoo... who is he?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:23 PM) :

I wish the designer made those sandals for women.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:27 AM) :

Model in the blue with the chest tatoo is Rafael Lazzini!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:11 PM) :

holy moly!!! this is what a real man looks like---hoping this trend will evolve....of course a lean muscular 40L or a "curvy" 5' 10'' size 4 still encompasses about 1% of the population. But its nice to see more flesh than bone. Yummy.

Blogger Christina said ... (2:56 PM) :

Anonymous wilson said ... (10:00 AM) :

perfect in all senses..colors , materials, casting... finally, REAL MEN on the runaway.

Blogger Cassi said ... (12:22 PM) :

I was too easily distracted by the hot hunky models...i'll have to go back through and look at the clothing next...this bunch of men was very refreshing. ;)

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:58 PM) :

Those very very short brown leather shorts are the most beautiful mens shorts I've ever seen. So beautiful - of course you need legs like his...

I got those, but where are the few thousand Euros they would cost me?! ;-)

Blogger Michael Joseph Owens said ... (5:55 PM) :

Wow. Love it all. BV rocks.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:58 AM) :

Bottega Veneta, Milano - this is my favorite Men's collection I've seen...love the blue on blue...the earth tones, the shapes and feel of the fabric....yum

Does anyone know the name of the male model in the rust-colored outfit?

Blogger Sophitia.Kaze said ... (10:54 AM) :

I would live in the third outfit. Even being a woman O.O.
(the red jacket is amazing too)

Everything looks so fresh!

Anonymous Siena said ... (4:44 PM) :

It's so refreshing to see real-size male models- and so ironic that men complain about the rail-thin girls!
These guys look great, and the collection is super. Just a shame that BV is a little pricey.

Blogger so said ... (9:03 PM) :

wow!
these guys look amazing!

Anonymous jenny said ... (10:14 PM) :

to preface myself, as a woman, i do not follow fashion shows closely. so to me, it is very interesting to see the differences between men models in bottega veneta and dolce and gabanna, and burberry and prada. muscular, tan men vs. skinny, pale-ish men. i realize there is a theme in each show but i've never seen such stark variety in women body types as in these men fashion shows. do we give men a wider range of "ideal"?

Blogger Matt said ... (10:58 PM) :

Does anyone know who the first model is?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:14 AM) :

the men's gladiators are soooo sexy

Blogger indubitably said ... (8:12 AM) :

Love it! Have not lost the essence of Bottega Veneta when transitioning from the feminine to masculine, it still there..

Blogger yawp said ... (9:55 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

Nice, casual pieces in rich colours. Very fitting for the Australian summer and style; laid back, easy and comfortable.

Yes it will be pricey. I've seen a BV t shirt and the price tag was USD$300!
