Less beautiful viking, and more Edwardian tough. Masterpiece Theatre on the down low. What I love about this photo is the way the edge of the scarf next to his face on the right almost looks as though it were an extension of his 'stache... as if he had invented some funky wrap-style for his facial hair. Brad Pitt, take note!

I love Barbour jackets and styling, but the trend has exhausted me of enthusiasm for them. I love the heritage of the brand, they are anything but trendy, but they are, at the moment, so hard to wear without looking exactly like 5-10 other people waiting to cross the street at intersection X in NYC.
Is it a Barbour New Utility or Belstaff ?
Sart - Great shot. I own two Barbours now including the one this chap is sporting. I wore it the whole time in Paris whilst on vacation in October, and got the seal of approval from the Parisians ! I remember Sart pictured sporting one a few years ago that was broken in perfectly. They might be a bit $$, but worth every cent.

The layering is interesting - oilcloth outer jacket, cardigan, v-neck pullover, shirt. The muffler is overkill. He needs a hat, such as a black trilby or a baseball-style cap. Trousers in a different shade - perhaps an olive green - would go better with what he is wearing on his upper body.

hooray for barbour jackets! I have a men's one and I wear it every day (in fact i'm wearing it right now!) Love the layering here - the jacket, then the cardigan (?), sweater, and shirt, although i'm not sure how he managed to fit it all under the jacket

nah its a barbour alright. international to be precise with the horrible badge and belt taken off. you can tell by the pockets and the shoulders. belstaff's have shoulder patch bits and squarer pockets.

I really think every man should have a barbour jacket... they have an incredible "non trendy" masculine quality that for me, as a female, seems understatedly sexy.

I am in awe of this man. Great hair and mustache (that you can see amongst the beard). Can't beat the fitted pants. Love the attitude.
It is without a doubt a vintage Barbour International (as another post said) without the badge.
I have the exact same model (badge removed), and it's clear from the shape and size of the pockets and pocket flaps and tartan lining.
I also have Belstaff jackets the pockets are cut square and the button flap on the wrist is slightly longer.
The beauty of this is the fact that the jacket is well worn and he appears to be wearing it a size or so smaller than it would normally be worn.
it is a beautiful photo. he seems so confident and his image appears to be the epitome of male pride. there is perhaps a hint of arrogance that makes him even more irresistible and still... if you search for his work and come across a video of him, if you are a straight woman you will be disappointed to find that he is not as manly as you thought he would be. the american accent and his feminine manerisms did not fit the image of a wild viking and of a wild adventurous male that i personally had formed in my head...
so you see images are very powerful. they can make you dream but also they can deceive you :)
it's a Belstaff jacket not Barbour(different buttons and detail). Got a Barbour Utility jacket but Belstaff is the real deal as far as style concerned!

You're wrong; as other posts have said, this is undoubtedly a Barbour international, which is a motorcycle jacket (like Belstaff) and very much unlike your utility jacket.
Barbour's are stylish, it just depends who wears it and more importantly, how it's worn.

This is the most beautiful man I've ever seen.
He might be masculine but not because of this.
This is a style-ized version of rugged masculinity. Girls fawn over it because it gives the illusion of badass/edginess without any of the actual badassness. It conjures up images of 1950's hard-nosed bikers which makes women tingle but doesn't actually come with the uncaring viciousness that would go with said 1950's biker. Adding dandiness with the perfectly coifed hair, fashionable beard, and the effeminate scarf/sweater, this combination makes women swoon.
I can't blame the guy, though. It's a poon magnet.
