I like her shades but I'm not lovin' the hefty or the cheese wedge on her arm.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 PM) :

Bad posture, beautiful shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:41 PM) :

I love the shades, but the dress has no shape and is not flattering in any way.

Her feet/shoes remind me of Bambi's hoofs

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:43 PM) :

I love her shoes. And the peek of her tattoo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 PM) :

Yeah I can't wait for the 'bag dress' fad to go away. Completely unflattering!

Blogger Lisa Petrarca said ... (3:48 PM) :

How interesting...you'd never guess by looking at her.

Perceptions are funny. I would have thought she worked in the fashion industry.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:52 PM) :

That material is too stiff for a dress of that style.

Like the shoes, I guess.

Anonymous greendress said ... (4:02 PM) :

sart, i wish you would bring back the larger size photos. i want to see the details (something running up the left side of the dress?) of the dress and you just can't do that with this size of photo.

i like the structure of that dress. it appears to be a little wider than i would want to wear, but it looks feminine, chic, elegant and professional. it also is the kind of dress that she can easily take from day to evening. a very practical dress!

Blogger SabinePsynopsis said ... (4:04 PM) :

Judging from her clothes and accessoires I would think she'll go for bold designs.

Anonymous Jak Stat said ... (4:05 PM) :

Love the shades , interesting choice on the dress... wish i could see some of the details a bit more better.
Overall nice outfit =)

Blogger morgan said ... (4:09 PM) :

loathe... the shapeless dress, the weirdly formal shoes, grandma's bag, the cheapy bangle on her arm, the grimaced expression and the pigeon towed stance (although this broke-down stance isn't unique to her I'm sorry to say).

LIKE ... her sleek low ponytail and her pixie ears

in general, sorry Sart - not feeling this one.

Anonymous Lozza said ... (4:49 PM) :

Scott I am so disappointed in you. You were taken to the pretentious parts of Sydney to take photos of boring looking people and you have not even gone to places like King Street Newtown, where the real people are. Sorry, but the people at Sass & Bide took you to Bondi...TWICE???Puh-lease.... next time take some good advice and you will get much better results...all of these Sydney photos are a bit on the boring side...everyone around the world thinks this is the best we have?? Who else thinks Scott should have checked out King Street? Not just Paddington, Pitt St and Bondi...so touristy..... :(
If you indeed went to King St, then I apologise for the ignorance, but I don't think you did...because of who was showing you around...they probably think King St is full of weirdos...

The shoes and the bracelet..and specially the bracelet.. the shape.... thats a wow.... the dress is simple but fits her perfectly..... the bag is what gets me...... i would have choose a different bigger and more natural material.... then this dress would look fabulous..... the hair could be a little bolder... but...she is awesome... for her job... shes a goddess....

Anonymous mccokes said ... (6:01 PM) :

The spectator pumps are killer. I like them with the bare legs, too. The heavy bangle provides a nice new texture to the overall ensemble. This looks like it would be fun to wear, and it's a fun look. I like it.

Blogger rose said ... (6:02 PM) :

i love extreme horticulture! this is way my favorite place in la is the getty center! didn't know horticulturists could be so chic.

Blogger MARCA REGISTRADA said ... (7:49 PM) :

just wondering how she can afford those chanel heels with a job like that....

Anonymous Vasili said ... (7:52 PM) :

Oh Amelia!...you look gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:09 PM) :

You should should do a piece on young working women. The last few photos are great and it would be nice to see a collection of young women from around the world and how they are bringing new fashion flavor to business attire.
Thank you for sharing you work.

Anonymous Allumette said ... (8:10 PM) :

I like those shoes, and I think I like the bag, from what I can see...

The volumeless hair and loose dress don't quite work together, the large bracelet doesn't work for me (no contrast, just two large elements put together). And the aviators don't seem to add anything ... I guess that although I really like the individual elements of what she's doing, I'm not struck by the look as a composite.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 PM) :

it must be difficult to plant in such a cool outfit!

Anonymous Sara said ... (8:36 PM) :

i love that she can dress up so cute and still plant rooftop gardens. also, i need that dress badly.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 PM) :

gorgeus, the shoes make this outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 PM) :

Love the legs, love the shoes. But that "dress" looks like she slipped on an old mulch bag and went outdoors.

Anonymous diana said ... (9:10 PM) :

It's a fresh look. I would definitely wear the black dress. Love the shoes too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:10 PM) :

that's what i want to do! love her style. full dress with big bracelet. i would have worn flat ballets and am rethinking that. legs look long!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 PM) :

I can't explain why this woman's job makes her outfit more attractive. It just does.

Blogger Blade said ... (9:51 PM) :

Other than the interesting bracelet absolutely nothing going on here. Are you people looking at the same photo. Amazing shoes??? Please, at least they aren't UGG's. Hunting must be a bit slim down under.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:56 PM) :

Oh my god, I am so sorry Scott Schuman for the slim pickings that have been on the Australian streets this past few days.
Good Lord, it is embarrassing to be an AU citizen right now, I love you and all you represent, but please go home, I don't want to hurt you anymore.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:30 PM) :

bangle...dinosaur designs?

FYI: horticulturist in sydney: can't afford chanel!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 PM) :

Some of your photos are right on and will remain fashionable in years to come. In contrast there is this photo.

Blogger Connie said ... (10:38 PM) :

I'm loving the all the interesting people you're shooting in Australia. Keep it up!

The Heartbreak

Blogger Sunshinemom said ... (10:50 PM) :

The bracelet breaks the tone. I must say she dresses chic for the job she does! I thought of horticulturists as messy but she makes it sound cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 PM) :

Great shades, pretty girl - bag the rest.

Anonymous Cecylia said ... (10:59 PM) :

Oh my, is that a leather dress? Coz if it is, I've gotta have one! Love her Chanel shoes too!

Blogger Billy said ... (11:11 PM) :

Oh and I love the photograph, very urban work environment!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:31 PM) :

How does one go about getting into the rooftop gardening world? If I post my contact on needy rooftops across Sydney, will you find me? Please do. I'd love to know your story. so i may borrow it for myself. -a young and budding gardener in Austin, TX :)

Anonymous cym said ... (11:36 PM) :

Anonymous nextdesignviewer said ... (11:47 PM) :

I love this outfit

Anonymous groovergreen said ... (11:51 PM) :

Awful, frumpy, shapeless dress, but with good posture she could make it work --- i.e. stand up straight and lose the pigeon toes.
I totally dig her profession; I wish we could see some of her rooftop gardens!

Blogger TK said ... (11:54 PM) :

The bracelet is crazy and the dress looks very interesting..

She pulls it off very well however

Blogger Heart Charlie said ... (12:16 AM) :

those shoes are brilliant!

Blogger Emily McGuire said ... (12:30 AM) :

The silhouette of a dress is not often intended to be traditionally flattering. I believe a woman can be elegantly chic and sexy without her outfit clinging to her every curve. This silhouette, neckline and sleeves are so modern and youthful; and the subtle yet-in-no-way-subdued detailing is excellent.

Blogger Vinda Sonata said ... (1:36 AM) :

i adore the simplicity of her outfit--nice shoes too! she's very good looking.

Blogger Shoestring Traveler said ... (2:34 AM) :

Love the bracelet and the shape of the dress! They seem to play off of one another somehow.....

Anonymous ChervelleCamille said ... (3:16 AM) :

I kinda believe it that she does. LOVE the shoes. But to be honest, the first thing I noticed, was the dress and the first thought that came to mind was "why is she wearing a garbage bag?" So in that case, I kinda believe that she plants gardens. Sorry if too harsh! But I do she the vision for the outfit. I guess it's like what you say "it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it". (I have that quote as my moto now, by the way! Thanks Scott)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:22 AM) :

I usually skip your Sydney pics, but she is great. Especially because of the gardner lark.

Blogger UESman said ... (3:36 AM) :

Hey Sart! I like all the Sydney photos in the fun and sun, but its the holidays and I'm homesick and I need to see some of my people on Madison Ave. to know I'm still alive!!! So if you could post some of those, that'd be great :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:48 AM) :

such a cool girl. her sunglasses are nice.

Blogger Ammu said ... (3:48 AM) :

Wow. Love it - the hair, the sunnies, the dress, the shoes, and most of all, the bracelet. What a cool woman - please do a style profile on her!

Anonymous Tobias Sweden said ... (3:57 AM) :

I really love her shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 AM) :

Where's her friend? the title says Horticulturalist(s). I work with plants as well and call myself a Gardener!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 AM) :

I think the whole look would be greatly improved if she cinched all that material in with a belt at her waist. We'd be able to appreciate the volume of the sleeves and the sequin detail.

Obviously she's going for a deconstructed look though and she's got the attitude for it but that dress just does not do it for me at all.

Blogger chotto matte said ... (4:07 AM) :

i do envy her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:13 AM) :

sanmiguelense, the reason shoes are better in the northern hemisphere is that the good ones are SO expensive in Australia, something to do with hideous import duties. Gotta disagree with you on this one Scott, I quite like the dress but I think it's a case of nice dress, wrong body.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:42 AM) :

Am trying to decide is it the angle at which she stands that makes her look like she has bad posture. Dress is cute ,but could look nices if she were to stand straight or Sart shot from a different angle.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:52 AM) :

Blogger InStudio Blog said ... (9:45 AM) :

That is a SERIOUS bracelet! Want her shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 AM) :

shapeless black short shift dresses must be the rage in aus - there's another one in the background. funny how there's an indigenous style - same dress would v. different on each of a nyc or stockholm or paris or london lady. can't pin the difference tho'!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 AM) :

What a shame she's slouching - style is about good posture too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 AM) :

where's the posture.........?!?!

Blogger Juan Manuel Trejo Sánchez said ... (10:44 AM) :

Which is the showpiece?

I love how everything in her garment can either be ordinary or peculiar, just by paying a little more attention to it.

I love that! Simple, elegant things that can look extraordinary with a closer look.

Perfectly balanced. (I think)

Anonymous Indie Mom and the Reluctant Banker said ... (10:46 AM) :

The two-tone shoes look amazing! In fact, all of her look does.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 AM) :

Oh i love her dress and the shoes! adore it

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:57 AM) :

GORGEOUS shoes, but I bet she has a spare pair with flat soles in her bag.

A leather dress, now that's super-innovative. Wipe clean and sexy!

Blogger Lucas Jones said ... (12:41 PM) :

yuck.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:39 PM) :

i think this look would come up a million notches if her stance was different. the dress is nice, the bangle is a fun addition...however, it's as though she's standing like she's trapped in a box.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 AM) :

I love how just because it is on the Sartorialist people love it. This woman is wearing what could be considered a faux-leather garbage bag. Just because it is well accessorized and because the woman is attractive and in nice shape doesn't make it acceptable. Trash. Trash!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:56 PM) :

i totally agree with Lozza..

Scott, sydney fashion is very diverse.. each suburb you visit has its own trend going on.. its a pity you did not visit newtown or the cross, better yet even parts of the trendy inner surburbs.. like strathfield and Homebush areas because i believe alot of trend setters are there..

But anyway beautiful photos.. and next time please diversify when you come to sydney again
