Verizon Global Gentleman or the Sainthood of Garance Dore

I don't know if any of you have seen these Verizon Global Gentleman ads that began running in GQ back in September.

It was a really fun project that Garance and I shot over the Summer in Milan, Paris, Australia and London.

I have to admit I'm happy with how the shots turned out... but poor Garance.

No photographer ever wants to shoot another photographer. Let alone your boyfriend who is a photographer.

I couldn't help it, just as she was about to shoot I would keep saying... is that the angle you're going to take???..... back light, really??.... does my hair make my face look fat???

Local florists became quite wealthy after each of these shots.

Sorry G.

Scott, you are hilarious. No wonder Garance loves you. : )

Blogger junglesiren said ... (12:05 PM) :

That poor girl. I know she probably wanted to smack you upside your head but it would mess up your hair for the shot.

Very nice ad. And they picked the right man for the job. Thanks for explaining Milan. I've never actually loved it and always want to be elsewhere when I'm there.... like Venice for Florance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 PM) :

Lucky Garance...
If I had to shoot such a handsome subject, I'd make all kinds of excuses to take "bad-shots" so I could keep shooting all day! :)
Your fan from Fort Lee, NJ

Anonymous Emily said ... (4:50 PM) :

Well, if you don't have the right to be fussy about how you look when you're about to appear in a national ad campaign, when DO you have the right to be fussy about your appearance?
But she did a great job. You're hot. Just saying. :]

Anonymous what what said ... (6:00 PM) :

but look at the shot and how the right flap of your jacket poofs up in an awkward position. a good shot otherwise.

Anonymous eHABERDASHER.com said ... (6:15 PM) :

Great shot - you look fantastic! Having previously written Milan off as a place I "have to" go for business but nothing more, I'll give it another chance and explore more of the outskirts.

There is nothing amusing about machinery.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 PM) :

Any know what sort of suit Scott is wearing? Solid black is one of those colours that either look really good or really cheap as a suit...the deep V in the chest make this one a winner!
