On the Street....DB, No Shirt, London

Ok, he actually was wearing a navy tank top under the jacket; but this is one of the first times I have ever seen someone basically do a jacket-no-shirt look and have it appear totally normal.

He is so classy and manly, I love that he appears to be so comfortable and natural in his clothes. Also, the colors and his skin are great.

great look, easy and yet strong

Oh I love how he wear! color, attitude, etc... Fabulous:)

Blogger fuckoff said ... (9:35 AM) :

not to mention completely elegant!!

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (9:39 AM) :

A tank top under such fabulous jacket. I dont get it- my practical side worries about deodorant stains in the lining of the jacket, even if it has shields sewn in. I do like how he paired the navy jacket with the brown-ish scarf. Is the cuff of the jacket somewhat unusual or is my screen wrong? Jorge from WPB

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (9:40 AM) :

wow at that flash of green in his pocket

and his hairs are all beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:43 AM) :

It works quite well further due to the scarf/foulard he wears around his neck and the tailoring of his DB blazer. Without the two components it would be too Miami Vice/Los Angeles nightclub.

Blogger Sarah said ... (9:44 AM) :

I think the reason it works is the scarf. And it would only work with a closely-fit jacket.

Blogger Alicja said ... (9:46 AM) :

I suppose that the day was warm :) btw green scarf makes this outfit more chic

Anonymous Michael K said ... (9:47 AM) :

He carries this off really well.
I wonder where he is from? The reason I ask is that I imagine such a look on a balmy late summer evening on the Med, rather than in the middle of London. But then saying that the navy and dark red works well for a summer-autumn look as well.
By the way, it was great to meet you at Liberty last night!

Blogger demetric wheeler said ... (9:50 AM) :

The scarf plays a huge role as filler in this case...I think of old mafia bosses with gold chains and tank tops with double breasted jackets...would like to see look with out scarf to see if it really works...love the pocket square, that green is amazing...love the buttons also...

Blogger sofiasophie said ... (9:52 AM) :

Beautiful mix of colours brown/autumn tones with this bright dark blue and of materials.....
Truly genuine!

Blogger CW said ... (9:54 AM) :

The look says - sotted old rock star wannabe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:54 AM) :

Absolutely and intensely gorgeous! DB blazer & silk pocket square lend stark contrast to no-shirt. Love the look, great photo!

I think he looks ohlala...dreaming of Tuscany...thats what I am doing.

Anonymous Wikifashion said ... (9:56 AM) :

I love the navy and the subtle polka dots on the shirt :)

Anonymous Serian said ... (9:56 AM) :

it really looks normal.
maybe, he is gentle man :)

Blogger Nick said ... (9:58 AM) :

What does that mean—"normal"? Do you mean "undergirding patriarchal power structures" and "not gay"?

Anonymous Asad said ... (9:59 AM) :

Maybe the ascot helps.

Blogger The Khaki Crusader said ... (9:59 AM) :

that DB manages to be super casual given its deconstruction that it works effortlessly. thats a really cool jacket.

Anonymous hedi said ... (10:03 AM) :

I love navy jacket.

Blogger louise or valentine said ... (10:18 AM) :

such a classy man, reminds me of my dad. he gets all of his suits tailored and made on savile row.

William is by far London's most stylish man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 AM) :

HELLO Handsome!!!!

Anonymous Iamgant said ... (11:23 AM) :

I am impressed. This settles the age old debate that men are conservative in English fashion. There is no better statement for men to go without a shirt. It rules out these questions, checked or striped shirt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:53 PM) :

LOVE it! It's awesome when something can be done so well and you think, why isn't it done more often? It takes guys like this one to pull it off!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:06 PM) :

I love this. Lovely casual cotton/linen suit in a beautiful shade of blue worn with the right accessories. I see a blue sleeve peeking out from his jacket sleeve so it must be a long sleeve t-shirt he is wearing and not a tank top.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 PM) :

anyone have a recommendation on a nice double-breasted jacket like this?

it's the casual flair that makes this work, and makes the DB become a more accessible piece

Anonymous Suzanne Nelson said ... (1:28 PM) :

Definitely interesting... this look works really well in a/as a photograph but I'm wondering if i met him face to face, in real life wouldn't it be a bit 'hold on , haven't forgotten something?'...??

Blogger Javi C. said ... (1:46 PM) :

Nice jacket with the combination of the handkerchief(scarf) of the neck.
Curious and elegant.

Anonymous Xris said ... (2:02 PM) :

Reminds me of Peter Saville. Is that a cotton jacket? And, what sleeve is peaking out? Was it a blue low-collar long-sleeve shirt?

NIce pocket square.

Blogger ingefaer said ... (2:19 PM) :

what polka-dots on what shirt........am I missing something?

Blogger Matthew Spade said ... (2:26 PM) :

i hope i look even as half as good when im older. ace hair!

Anonymous Judith said ... (2:40 PM) :

Wow. he is totally distracting. Nice catch!

Anonymous Pietman said ... (3:22 PM) :

Bless this man for not looking like a woman trap in a man's body.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:02 PM) :

William... you are simply stunning...
Great elegance and a witty smile.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (6:31 PM) :

The scarf and the tailoring of the jacket are the reasons this is successful. And the green pocket scarf is incredible! Kudos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:54 PM) :

He looks like he'd be wonderful to wake up to.

This Time in Seoul

Blogger Celia said ... (1:05 AM) :

Not only does he pull it off, but to have it done this well...what a man.

Blogger Gülben said ... (8:17 AM) :

guess i am in love! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:27 AM) :

ModernDowager--Yes.

I can't believe it took the 49th post to realize this.

Sexy, sexy indeed.

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (10:55 AM) :

A handsome, sexy guy. He resembles my husband quite a bit. He just need to relax more, if you know what I mean.

Great dreamy guy.

Blogger Simo said ... (11:04 AM) :

i like his pocket square
i will say even without the scarf it will be more chic

Blogger The Chukker said ... (12:25 PM) :

Now we are talking! This is awesome, for years I saw the most terrible outfits when you try to pull off a suit with no shirt underneath! And I saw quite a few.
This is elegant and you completely forget the lack of shirt (here the foulard is covering up the extra skin)
Bravo

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:32 PM) :

Iggy Pop on his "Idiot" album cover sported a tight and
cropped DB jacket with no shirt. When I first saw it I thought he was the sexiest thing alive; man or a woman. Check it out!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:15 AM) :

I remember that Iggy Pop cover; and I'm definitely going to have to somehow use this idea myself at some point. Digging the way the color of the lozange, the jacket, the buttons, and the skin/hair works together, too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:05 AM) :

Very understated and elegant. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 AM) :

Epitome of "effortlessly chic"... I wish more men dressed like this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:46 PM) :

so, who is this stylish man?

Blogger "coy" colleen said ... (5:51 PM) :

he's so dreamy!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:25 PM) :

splendid

Blogger David C said ... (8:30 AM) :

I watched Thunderball last night. Largo wore a DB with no shirt, and just a silk necktie, scarf or cravat. In fairness he had just returned from diving, but it was an interesting look, if not impractical - you will get the lining all wet/sweaty! I wonder if this is a sort of niche look for stylish old italian yachtsmen etc?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

it's William Gilchrist - well known London based stylist and dandy.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:48 PM) :

is it his outfit or his persona which takes make me gaze?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:32 AM) :

good!!

Anonymous Term papers said ... (12:47 AM) :

Sometimes you can even find semi-formal clothes, like I have this pink-checked shirt that could almost pass off as a formal shirt, but this shirt is also fantastic.

Anonymous Term papers said ... (12:01 AM) :

DB, No Shirt, in London is a one thing that, I also will say that look weird and do not has to be wear, I think such as things do happen when you are going some where in hairy.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:55 AM) :

He is looking very cool,, specially the blue court is very suit on him, Cool man, Nice dressing, I like his court,.

Fashion is a state of mind. A spirit, an extension of one's self. Fashion talks, it can be an understated whisper, a high-energy scream or an all knowing wink and a smile.

Anonymous Research Paper said ... (7:34 AM) :

This is some thing new because jacket-no-shirt is some thing which I also never see before, but I think it depend on the person that what he or she does wants to wear and in the picture the person is looking nice, it is not like a thing which look different.

Anonymous Custom Home Detailing said ... (5:12 PM) :

Very nice work. It is always a plesure to look at your art.

Anonymous auto said ... (8:27 AM) :

What do you really mean by normal? You mean men like? Somehow we are told that jacket must be worn with a shirt. One of the reasons why I choose not to wear jacket most of the time.

Anonymous Web Design said ... (2:17 AM) :

So stylish jacket man..

Anonymous Sunburn Treatment said ... (12:47 PM) :

He's going to catch a cold if doesn't wear a shirt =)
