Being creative and dare on proportions is not easy for men I guess, so that's remarkable =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 AM) :

I want to like it, but he just looks like a turtle to me...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:33 AM) :

love the pants, socks, and shoes... but I am NOT a fan of the turtle shell jacket. Ruins the entire look... shame.

Blogger miss sophie said ... (9:35 AM) :

i love the concept - but i wonder what happens when he sits down?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 AM) :

Wow what an odd look but such an appropo name! Shell back/tortoise back! So very unflattering really! :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:43 AM) :

I love his tortoise shell sunglasses! Are those vintage Polaroid? They look really cool! :)

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (9:46 AM) :

Hm...I've seen this man before. I can't remember where. I like his socks and shoes!

Blogger No Salvation said ... (9:53 AM) :

Love the socks!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

He makes me reminisce Paul Weller as The Style Council. So cool!

Blogger James Jean said ... (10:01 AM) :

Expose those socks young man!!!

Blogger Mr. Glenn said ... (10:20 AM) :

fashion can be a joke...

Blogger cmc said ... (10:28 AM) :

i concur with jfk jean, it's all in the details/little things. et j'adore the subtlety of his socks.

Blogger Mendij said ... (10:38 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 AM) :

I'd like to see how it moves when you walk

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:42 AM) :

Yet again, socks with shoes. Looovvee iiiit.

Blogger norawoah said ... (10:44 AM) :

One usually doesn't see a dude wearing such a silhouette. Way to switch it up!

Blogger Boothe said ... (10:45 AM) :

His sock game is tight.

Blogger katie.h said ... (10:46 AM) :

A coat that will keep you warn even over your backpack. brilliant.

Blogger Rylan said ... (10:47 AM) :

I guess I'm not into the shellback. However, those socks are killer! I want a pair, RIGHT NOW!

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:51 AM) :

I love this. And, what I love most is the hem of the pant and the socks and the shoes...glorious.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:07 AM) :

I LOVE this jacket! its Balenciaga right? if only more designers took more risks with their mens lines.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

If you're going to wear high water you better have nice socks.

Blogger Rene Schaller said ... (11:11 AM) :

really like the proportions. and yes, the socks are great

Blogger CW said ... (11:11 AM) :

I hope that this results from the wind catching and inflating the coat. Otherwise, I hope the police check him for a backpack - or a bomb.

Nice socks.

Blogger Sokiente said ... (11:17 AM) :

Those socks are killer!

Blogger Olviya said ... (11:18 AM) :

thats how futurism is looking in real life)

Blogger Dominica said ... (11:22 AM) :

Love the socks !
In fact, I love the whole silhouette !

Blogger diane said ... (11:37 AM) :

It's like a modern twist on "Madmen".

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:41 AM) :

those socks ruin the whole look

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (11:46 AM) :

I like it all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:46 AM) :

if i like or dislike not matter because this man is impervious to judgment. any gentleman daring enough to shoe his hosiery( i love that phrase - men's hosiery) and rock that coat tells us all that we, ' just don't know.'

work!
but stop smoking - it's killing you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:47 AM) :

He can afford Balenciaga.

Blogger Karen said ... (11:48 AM) :

I feel like the proportions of the coat with the rest of the look would be hard to pull off for most men, but he does so fairly well! I really love the pants with the socks and the shoes!

Blogger junglesiren said ... (12:18 PM) :

It's rare that I look at one of Sart's shots and can't find anything I like. This is totally unsexy IMO.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

This is great! for men who complain menswear is less diverse and interesting than womenswear this must inspire you to play with silhouette, no or rather, non?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

I like bugs, sometimes their beautiful and best viewed from a distance. He looks like a bug. He gets The Best Socks Ever award.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:43 PM) :

Kafkaesque..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:00 PM) :

The redemption of Gregor Samsa.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:09 PM) :

Smoking is only cool in Paris.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 PM) :

I love the shoot & the Alain Delon Allure present in this man, but the Coat; only fits for "Le Bossu de Notre Dame" .. I Like not ..

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (1:33 PM) :

I think it's an interesting silhouette and he's right, proportionally, to pair the coat with the narrow pants and sleek shoes. Yes, the shoes and socks are great. I also love the touch of pastel shirt showing, a nice reminder that it's spring!

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (1:47 PM) :

Every component is on super-drive. The socks, of course, totally rock!

The cut of the pants, the shoes, the white under-garment peaking out at the top... they all strongly support the jacket. Is this a trial balloon for some future jacket silhouette? That's my take. It looks very futuristic. And will only really work for very, very skinny guys. Like him.

In the perfection of this picture, this guy looks like a human version of a sleek black Porsche.

Blogger Amra said ... (1:51 PM) :

Cool shot!

Blogger micol zanzuri said ... (2:08 PM) :

i love this picture!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:16 PM) :

He looks like a turtle - in the best way possible!!

Blogger Nikita M. said ... (3:14 PM) :

I would kill for those socks!!
Even though I'm not a fan of the coat, he pulls it off pretty well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:50 PM) :

Finally! A balance of the too-small (the pants) with the too large (the jacket). A nice look, compared to the too-small jackets layered over one another until nothing fits or drapes or looks comfortable. Great look.

And I LOOOOVE those socks. Nice touch.

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (3:54 PM) :

Teenage Smoking Prada Turtle?

Blogger Scott W said ... (4:52 PM) :

I thought it was because the wind was blowing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:57 PM) :

The socks and shoes ROCK! I find it whimsical how his posture (neck to hips to feet is "S" shape) is inverse relationship to the "C" shape of his coat. And while I want to say I would be so daring I kind of think the coat makes him look like he is "reverse pregnant", never a sexy thing. Maybe if he stood up straighter...

Thanks for the fun Sart! What would the dreary rainy days of early Spring be without your lightness?

Blogger anonwomen said ... (4:59 PM) :

I love the silhouette so dramatic and sculptural, and the socks are just genius!!

Blogger Luuworld said ... (5:26 PM) :

supercool picture! love the sillhouette :p

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 PM) :

This jacket would look great in an editorial spread. It is interesting to see it on the street -- this whole look works for me. If one has the confidence and attitude, one call pull most anything off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:02 PM) :

A similar shape as the Kimono for Japanese women, but in this case service little purpose than for shape.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:50 PM) :

I believe this chic jeune homme is sporting socks by Paul Smith, seeing as I have a pair identical to his pair. If they are the same, they have a rockin' red border around the top and the toes. Love this silhouette, as well. C'est completement parisian!

Blogger Pennerad said ... (7:27 PM) :

looks a lot like my winter coat from Acne, albeit more exaggerated. I like that he took a risk, no matter how slight.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 PM) :

makes him look 'slouchy.'

Blogger Mvelase Peppetta said ... (7:53 PM) :

So much of mainstream women's fashion as of late is about the sculptured silhouette. So it's so interesting and cool to see this on a man. I love the swith-up.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:01 PM) :

i LOVE this Balenciaga jacket! i've had a photoshoot from ID magazine on my wall with the model wearing it for about a year now. such an interesting silhouette. big fan.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:51 PM) :

the socks MAKE this outfit divine!
and of course,the silhouette.

Blogger Paulina said ... (9:32 PM) :

I love how his socks are just the pop of color!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 PM) :

poofy, sort of. But it works for him, I guess. Stop smoking, dude!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:08 AM) :

The ensemble is interesting, but I don't think his body proportions pull it off very well. However, the detail of the patterned socks, and the the white collar peeking out of the coat are nice touches.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 AM) :

This is a great shot! I like a man who dares to try sth different and is not afraid to show it off. The jacket is very charming!

Blogger Rita said ... (3:17 AM) :

Awww, he looks like a cute little turtle! ♥

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:26 AM) :

its Tim clifton- green from LOVE that i love the shape of the jacket so fluid looking but so stiff at the same time and those socks are just amazing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:16 AM) :

I love that with a super skinny pant you can tell that beneath the shell that's hiding the rest of his body, he is quite thin. Who would've though you could look skinner by being engulfed in fabric! Then again, Mary Kate has been doing that for years... regardless, this look is fabulous!

Blogger lottie said ... (9:11 AM) :

Chic, ladies 60's silhouette but sharp AS. trouser skimming ankle at just the right spot.

Blogger J. said ... (9:52 AM) :

Love that he's wearing patterned socks, as well as showing them! I'm not too sure about the jacket though...I'm kinda half and half.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 AM) :

point of views:
fashion... definitely
fashion-able... eh, probably not
photography... HELL YES!! Great [shot] Scott! haha

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:31 AM) :

(oh and i agree with Dave 9.43am: sunnies are awesome)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:06 PM) :

i love balenciaga menswear

Blogger Words Between the Spaces said ... (1:20 PM) :

He kinda looks like Lucy and Ethel in Paris--fashion victim. I like the socks, but his pants are too short.

Blogger Relaunched said ... (1:33 PM) :

The Coat looks like one of the designs of René Storck. At the moment he has a campaing in the German Vogue. The female model wears a similar coat.

Blogger D said ... (1:06 AM) :

awesome socks.

Blogger John Danner said ... (2:19 AM) :

Reminds me of being back in grade school when kids would wear their coats over top of their book bags.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 AM) :

balenciaga, without a doubt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

trouser length isn't just fashionable it also SUITS him... often a forgotten point.... the jacket I love but fear it's watered down imitations that will ineveitably follow.. this example is pin sharp- focused on the pitch and balance... it can only be achieved this way!

Blogger Malik said ... (7:24 PM) :

Why is everybody hating so zealously? He looks amazing and that coat probably cost a grip. Besides, is HE looking at YOU on the most prophetic fashion blog ever? Hmm...didn't think so.

Blogger May Kasahara said ... (10:01 PM) :

sooooooo cool. so cool.

Blogger the sophisticat said ... (7:18 AM) :

Malik, I agree. Why are so many against the shape of the jacket? It's so beautiful and you can see the perfection in the construction from here. What are the other options? A black jacket from Topshop? The jacket, I repeat, is just beautiful.

And the simple detailing in the socks. Love.

Blogger Joel Plastiique! said ... (12:46 PM) :

I absolutely Love the coat, It's amazing to actually see a piece like this on the street, and I don't see it as a joke, menswear needs to be more progressive! I love Balenciaga, and this gentleman here just made my season.

Blogger Ezra said ... (2:57 PM) :

what an interesting cut for a jacket

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 PM) :

haughttieee

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:25 PM) :

Beatle! He is Franz Kafka's Metomorphosis embodied!!

Blogger Edmont Dantes said ... (8:29 PM) :

I like the socks but the jacket has a way of bringing back into my mind what Oscar Wilde once said about fashion! "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 PM) :

I love the top half but the trousers are too skinny for my mind. I want him to break ALL the rules and go for old man slacks...then he can blow away into the sky and be a dream boat.

Blogger HC said ... (2:57 AM) :

large, extra large, poncho.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:46 AM) :

socks are from polo ralph lauren- have them too- theyre cool :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 PM) :

The coat is a Balenciaga wool coat by Ghesquiére and the silhouette can be seen in the early work of Balenciaga. It is a lovely coat and a work of art and not just some simple shell jacket. You should be ashamed.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 PM) :

John Christopher said..."Reminds me of being back in grade school when kids would wear their coats over top of their book bags."

That's exactly what it reminded me of... except sometimes I still do it when it's pouring with rain and I don't want to get my backpack wet while riding my motorbike!

I must make myself a sign that reads "in the manner of Balenciaga" to stick on my back and distract from the fashion disgrace.

Blogger seasonc said ... (4:56 AM) :

OMG, L.O.V.E. that coat!!!
Bravo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:05 AM) :

Very beetle-esque and apropos of Gregor Samsa in the Metamorphosis.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

How rare and refreshing! Someone who has not only understands the importance of color and texture, but of silhouette! The socks and glasses are perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:48 PM) :

i love this outfit from balenciaga, i have the same

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 AM) :

Interesting shape. Not good, but interesting ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:25 AM) :

j'adore

Blogger D.K said ... (1:11 AM) :

not a big fan of turtle thing
it looks like hes wearing extra large coat that was not tailored right. there's nothing "Artsy" about it honestly that looks weird. w.e i still like the pants and the shoes and the lil checks socks. and a cigarrtte ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 PM) :

i'm really not into this coat, but the socks are very nice.

Blogger romaine said ... (8:51 PM) :
