How Elegant...trying to peak around her back to see her bag...

Blogger Pamcasso said ... (7:36 AM) :

Love her! amazing as always- thank you for posting. Your pictures on style.com have been incredible. I'd love it if you'd post hqs of geraldine, emmanuelle, the other one of giovanna, and that incredible biker on via bagutta.

Blogger Bellarmine said ... (7:47 AM) :

Oh my god! I'm in love with her style! Everything is beautiful. Her, the dress, the belt, the boots, the tshirt, the watch, everything :) Lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 AM) :

Breathtakingly chic and elegant! Even though I wouldn't pair a brown belt with black boots and bag (mind you she's so gorgeous she pulls it off) this picture makes me feel like never wearing jeans again...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:58 AM) :

A chic and classy look; love the long skirt with the boots and belt.

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (7:59 AM) :

Beautiful dress. I especially like the warmth added by the brown belt. Matching the boots and bag with a black belt would not have been as active or effective visually. I actually do the same with black boots and a favorite brown belt, especially if I'm also wearing black- they work well together so often, much more dynamic than simple matching. I'm glad to see this stylish woman doing the same thing.

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (8:05 AM) :

C'est magnifique! Giovanna looks amazing, that dress is just divine! The print on the fabric gives it an amazing impression of texture.

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (8:12 AM) :

Love the black leather clutch and the chunky men's watch, which I hope is a trend that's here to stay. After all, once a woman comes into posession of a large, heavy Rolex, what else is there that beats it? Jorge from W Palm Beach

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:13 AM) :

doesn't really matter what she wears, does it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 AM) :

gorgeous in detail. as ever.
does she work in the fashion sector?

Blogger Rebekka said ... (8:25 AM) :

I can almost hear her voice: "Si, certo!" Great outfit, like the way she's pulled her hair back.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:02 AM) :

Lovely grey, length and width in the dress. The heavy belt is great with the ruffle! I wonder if the dress is from a label or from a thrift store, but don´t really care. Boots and bare arms are so Roman!

Blogger Steph said ... (9:05 AM) :

Wow. Just...wow. I'm speachless. I need that entire ensemble NOW.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:13 AM) :

not so sure about the watch...

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (9:13 AM) :

an enigma. i love everything about her. a serious, thoughtful beauty.

Blogger Miguel said ... (9:16 AM) :

A very, very elegant lady dress in a very, very clasicc way. I love that outfit and her manners.

Blogger Montreal Street Views said ... (9:17 AM) :

Very nice Scott.
The prada black a few days ago was great too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:22 AM) :

Perfect as always!

Blogger ieatapplesforfun said ... (9:38 AM) :

Gorgeous! So classy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:38 AM) :

Only Giovanna can pull off this look effortlessly! Glad she chose to carry a hermes swift kelly pochette instead of a birkin.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:43 AM) :

beautiful woman, hair, dress, belt, colors. only things is the boots: they look too thick on the ankles and make her calves look big, especially when paired with a skirt that long.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

I love her look! Not many women can pull off grey so well and the flow of her dress is also great:) Would have liked to see her boots in the colour of her belt, though (is it chocolate brown? anyway, it goes suprisingly well with the grey).

Such a pity that I would look absolutely horrendous in this outfit:(

Blogger viv said ... (9:50 AM) :

she's back! amazing.

Blogger miss sophie said ... (10:01 AM) :

the print of her dress is gorgeous! and i heart her boots.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 AM) :

Aahhhh!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 AM) :

If that's not perfection then I don't know what is! I love the brown belt - it adds just the touch so it's a great layered not matchy-matchy look, plus it adds some structure to the dress. What a lovely woman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

Sigh. How very lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

It is really had to wear a mid-calf skirt but she really pulls it off. She must be 7 feet tall.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 AM) :

I missed her a lot. thantks Scott for this photo.
She's so inspiring for me. Everything looks just PERFECT. I love how she plays with clothes and accessories. In my opinion she's one of the most influential style icon in 21st century.

Blogger Olviya said ... (10:24 AM) :

very nice shape!
interesting fabrics...
love the belt!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:45 AM) :

Giovanna is definitely a Sartorialist Hall of Famer!

Blogger Izzy said ... (10:47 AM) :

long skirts = so refreshing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

You really do take amazing photos. What camera and lense do you use? I love the lighting, the composition, everything. You're so amazing!

Blogger tal said ... (10:51 AM) :

That dress is amazing, and that print has just enough texture to make it look chic and elegant. I love it!

Beautiful picture!

Blogger Puebla Chic said ... (10:52 AM) :

i`ve seen that lenght on skirt a lot lately

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 AM) :

yep. perfection....i want to be able to do taht..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:44 AM) :

Bellisima!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

can anyone advise as to her dress?

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (12:59 PM) :

So elegant!

Blogger Hannah Stephenson said ... (1:12 PM) :

She looks perfectly put together. The neutrals don't match, but they look great together.

Now. What is she talking about??

Blogger Margaret E. Perry said ... (1:16 PM) :

perfect

Blogger John B Pritchett said ... (1:19 PM) :

Such class! Wonderful print. As for the belt, it's always nice to see an juxtaposition of an incongruous element...

Blogger Dennice {Fringe} said ... (2:21 PM) :

she's flawless, exquisitely chic. i love the fact that her boots, belt and purse are all black. i'm hopelessly partial to the well-accessorized woman!

i also adore the fact that her hair is parted down the middle.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:51 PM) :

I love it. Its so chic and unexpected. The only thing i would change is the boots. I'm not a fan of boots and long dresses, but everything else is perfection.

Blogger Cassaundra said ... (3:41 PM) :

she is always so lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:42 PM) :

What a beautiful shot. She is supremely elegant looking. The dress and belt are wonderful with this length. Her pulled back hair is perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:59 PM) :

i think this is a prada dress. as chic as ever..the brown belt gives warmth and casual flair to the outfit

Blogger O!Lightning said ... (4:09 PM) :

I haven't commented in a while but I just have to,

STELLAR!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 PM) :

it looks like a prada..this length is hard to pull off for most women but she aced it.. as chic as ever. the brown belt gives warmth and a casual flair to the outfit. bravo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

Nice use of color. But I think the dress is too long with those boots. I wonder what it would look like knee-length? The boots plus mid-calf length dress seem a little heavy and kind of drag her down.

Blogger Caro said ... (4:56 PM) :

the tight hair and the floaty dress. she's something! :D

Blogger Laura D'Adamo said ... (5:49 PM) :

I love her style!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:54 PM) :

I absolutely love the white car....A Smart. The smartest car on earth.
And yes, she looks lovely and smart in that dress (if only we mere mortals could wear a skirt that long without feeling and looking swamped).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:11 PM) :

grey is so amazing on a woman who has that skin colour, that dress looks amazing on her,it's been a while since a saw an ansamble like this!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:42 PM) :

Simply stunning!

Blogger La Clocharde said ... (6:59 PM) :

Giovanna is the best!
I love the dress + knit combination.
And I love that she is not posing, just busy with the phone...it looks natural and so nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:42 PM) :

Except for the very high heels (which I have a tendency to fall off of), the whole ensemble looks so comfortable while also looking so chic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:39 PM) :

God this has been a long time coming.

I have been dying for another photo of this fabulous creature.

Thanks!

Blogger aviewaskew said ... (9:33 PM) :

now that is a madonna....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 PM) :

Perfetta!

Blogger Kent Johnson said ... (9:58 PM) :

I love how the detail at the wait compliments the pattern.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 PM) :

that dress translates amazingly to real life

Blogger junglesiren said ... (11:30 PM) :

Sure, she looks great. It is, after all, Giovanna in Dolce & Gabanna. Hard to go wrong.

Blogger Nicole said ... (11:41 PM) :

perfection. i'm in awe of how naturally chic and well put together italian women are, all the time.

Blogger LRB said ... (11:46 PM) :

What a beautiful skirt, a mix of old and new worlds.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 AM) :

i likeit but i wish i could see the neckline of her dress better!

Blogger makenew said ... (12:33 AM) :

Skirt length is such an interesting thing, This lady does it perfectly.

Blogger Susan said ... (12:39 AM) :

stunning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:21 AM) :

She carries the dress with such grace and elegance - always an inspiration.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:24 AM) :

Who is Giovanna???

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:03 AM) :

Should be fur-print silk dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

Blogger Gia said ... (10:44 AM) :

this is what i call...style:)everything matches perfectly fine!the dress is amazing, same as those boots.a plus for the belt also!

Blogger architeria said ... (11:17 AM) :

oh my god.. i can't help looking again and again..

do you have a clue where i can have this dress? that is so amazingly great.. she is a top model?

all in a perfect slot and pose

i guess she works in the fashion industry..

I really love the dress, the compliation of grey tone of tone.and the boot.. i guess the belt to be black matching the boot will be perfect.

Blogger STEFANIE said ... (11:57 AM) :

she has great style. I love every single picture you've taken of her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

Giovanna can do no wrong, IMO. Simply stunning ... always!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:41 PM) :

Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2008 - looking far better on this beautiful lady than it did on the catwalk.

Blogger Haiku runner said ... (12:52 PM) :

Lovely outfit! And I like her hair, so simple and elegant!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:00 PM) :

she makes two things that I would normally avoid like the plague look glamorous: a turtleneck and a long skirt/dress. Very well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:49 PM) :

This dress is Dolce & Gabbana (silver fox print). FW 08 Runway collection. in boutiques now.

Blogger Layla said ... (3:09 PM) :

Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 PM) :

She is beautiful. I wish I could be as elegant as her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:09 PM) :

Dolce and Gabbana? My gosh, she looks so lovely in this.

Blogger pearlaceous said ... (12:29 AM) :

She looks fabulous as always! Love her hair do, the full dress, and the grey top she wore under the dress, it has cute short sleeves..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:34 AM) :

So elegant chlotes. Good.

Blogger Mariana said ... (9:07 AM) :

finally! i thought she had been in hiding.

Blogger Maitre_Tea said ... (1:15 PM) :

I love the belt that she has on, it goes well with the dress

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 PM) :

ohhh.
never in a million years would i have thought to pair some of those pieces she used to put together such a perfect look.

maybe she was or is a model? she's quite tall...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:17 PM) :

oh my god! i'm in love with her shoes :).

Blogger The Spicers said ... (5:35 PM) :

The Dolce & Gabbana suits her perfectly! Beautiful print, great belt, fantastic watch...just right.

Blogger .......... said ... (7:43 PM) :

I always look forward to your photos of Giovanna... beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

i love the nuanced colors and the print of that dress! very fall. very chic.

Blogger Graça Ventura Medeiros said ... (10:04 PM) :

Gorgeous!

Blogger Barbara said ... (11:17 PM) :

always flawless.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 AM) :

how on earth is she able to pull off looking like that in a dirndl skirt??? She cannot be mortal.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:27 AM) :

I saw that dress in the D&G store on via della Spiga this past weekend. Nice dress but Giovanna makes it work. I suppose many see Giovanna as model beautiful and I believe she once modelled but she is also a good example of someone with strengths and weaknesses like most all of us and she knows how to compensate them by her choices. For example, her shoulders are smallish and yet she always comes off looking strong, mostly by clever choices of accessories like belts and by showing off her strongest points like her seductive legs and beautiful face.

Blogger Marianna said ... (5:03 AM) :

Gorgeous allure here. I love how she is holding her bag between her arm while speaking on the phone. It almost looks like an affectionate gesture to the bag. And I am totally fine with the greys/blacks/browns together. I am seeing a lot of those three colours together here in Paris since last winter. It's the colour scheme of your typical Parisienne.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:48 AM) :

Her dress goes in the direction of a dirndl

Blogger Mónica said ... (7:03 AM) :

she is great. what can we say? it's the personification of chic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:51 AM) :

The lower part of the silhouette is very graceful, but I just can't love high necklines like that with short sleeves. A sleeveless turtleneck creates a lovely long line, and long-sleeved one can be a dramatic backdrop for accessories or a great jacket. But this one with the little puffy sleeves just looks pissy to me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 AM) :

I'm not crazy over this outfit except for the bag but she is so lovely, so graceful, she'd look good in a paper bag.

Blogger matt williams said ... (5:57 PM) :

I can't get enough of Giovanna's style. That dress is to die for. It almost looks as if it's made of fur.

Blogger ricola said ... (8:21 PM) :

yes, yes, and still more yes. And yet even more yes on top of those. Good Job, both of you.

Blogger Keesean said ... (8:18 PM) :

the dolce is deadly

Blogger petitageanunoir said ... (10:27 AM) :

it's the sleeves! or should I say NO sleeves that make this dress work? I myself bought a similar dress trying to replicate the same look, but that I couldn't figure out what was wrong with what I had bought. now I realize that my dress had these flouncy "little house on the prairie" sleeves and that it completely dated my outfit.

Blogger Anastasia said ... (10:03 PM) :

flash back to Malcom Mclaren and the 'Buffalo girls' look...quite an updated 80's look! FAB!!

Blogger RECIEN LLEGADA said ... (2:48 PM) :

Bellisima¡

Blogger yankeegrl506 said ... (4:12 PM) :

this just screams "Italy"
I love the pose too--her feet and how she's holding the bag.

Blogger ORANGE said ... (12:08 AM) :

i LOOOVE her dress..
so classy..
but i dont know how to get it in Indonesia...

Blogger Cotton Candy said ... (8:53 PM) :

so chic. and o simple at the same time...

Blogger Cool Meister said ... (1:19 AM) :

Gee whiz! I really do hope that she was possing for this picture, because if that's how Giovanna normally holds herself when talking on the phone, I feel guilty for my sloppy, loose shoulders and sagging posture. Sigh...

Oh to be self-aware and Italian!
