I adore the dress! It's a casual slip-on, but it looks really beautiful. Perfect colours; would change the shoes; I'd think something darker perhaps...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:42 AM) :

great dress, poor accessorizing (i hate the purse). she looks pretty though

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 AM) :

I love this outfit. This is a very beautiful woman who seems to be working, but is really just taking a cigarette break while on a nice walk to take care of some errands. The colors of the dress just synchronizes well with the picture. A beautiful picture and a beautiful well dressed woman. :)

i met her last week shopping in hamburg at cos. she wore the exact same dress, which i'm in love with!!
can anyone i-d it??

Blogger Jake Troth said ... (3:05 AM) :

i love how relaxed she looks for being so busy at the same time.
the lighting is gorgeous

love love love the dress! so casual and flowy! plus the bohemian feel :) comfort in style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 AM) :

What a killer dress, can't say the same about the bag though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 AM) :

BEAUTIFUL DRESS..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:39 AM) :

love the total carefree look..... so bohemian and yet so modern .....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:52 AM) :

sart,

i love your europe-shots!
they are (if possible) even more inspiring and vibrant than the american ones.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:09 AM) :

beautiful dress and beautiful color ...I find this photo very expressive !

Blogger Dan said ... (4:10 AM) :

Is this Natalie Portman?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 AM) :

this dress is from ZARA Winter 2005.. i have it!

Blogger Elin said ... (6:03 AM) :

i love the colours on the dress!

Blogger Vistiendo a Candela said ... (6:07 AM) :

Great dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:08 AM) :

perfect summer dress with just the right length.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 AM) :

i love the dress, absolutely beautiful... she's just so peaceful, though she's obviously working
the bag hurts

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:02 AM) :

ADORE the dress...could be borderline hippyish but there is something about the cut of the sleeves that is sophistiocated. i really wish she was wearing heels though, this length dress is just screming for heels. Of course, the heels would have to remain casual. The relaxed look is what is so great in the first place.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:46 AM) :

I know, I know, but I DO think this photo proves that a beautiful woman can put on almost everything...

Blogger muhajababe said ... (7:50 AM) :

so nice to see how people dress in Milan in summer, as i usually go in winter when its too cold.. this dress looks like she strolled out of Rhajastan into the streets or Milan, "milanastan " ;p

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:55 AM) :

Beauty is one of the most stylish things there are. Isn't it? And even if I don't smoke, I love it that Italy is still so much a smoking country. Great picture, as usual.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:56 AM) :

OH MY GOD THIS CHICK IT SLAMMIN! WHERE SHE FROM I GOT TO KNOW MORE!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:00 AM) :

Ive seen this girl before. Karl Largerfeld shot her last year. Shes the embodiment of summer.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (8:13 AM) :

I hate flip flops, but she is undeniably gorgeous and the dress looks fantastic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 AM) :

I love that, at first glance, she seems to be barefoot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 AM) :

She looks lovely. I want her dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 AM) :

really love that dress.

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (9:32 AM) :

such a beauty...and she smokes. love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:02 AM) :

i love this dress! she seems so relaxed and effortless in it. its just one of those dresses where you can put it on and call it a day...and i love the lighting of the picture

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

ahhhhh beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

That's a perfect sophisticated summer look. She looks like she loves what she's wearing and is having fun, yet she manages to keep it businesslike with her bracelets and bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 AM) :

red:

would you sell that dress??

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:32 AM) :

rachel weiss?

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:59 AM) :

Wow! Amazing dress! I love her look!

Blogger Miguel said ... (12:11 PM) :

Really love the dress. Subtle look and the accesories are a perfect few...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

Looooooove the dress. Its beautiful.
And I kinda admire how she didn't wear the ever-popular gladiator sandal, this look is much more timeless and the thongs don't take away from the dress.

Blogger LC said ... (12:33 PM) :

Oh wow, gorgeous dress! I think the flipflops and the dress are an amazing match. It makes it a little more summer-ish!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:40 PM) :

love the combination of flip flops/indian dress and then the lux-y glossy hair and sunglasses - she looks very sophisticated. I agree that she looks like Natalie Portman....

Blogger Cassaundra said ... (12:41 PM) :

I had to do a double take, as well. She looks a lot like Natalie Portman. Her dress is so lovely - she looks like a bohemian princess. I would die for that dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:59 PM) :

hey red,
would you post a complete picture of the dress so all of us can envy you? that would be awesome.
by the way, have you guys noticed that zara-clothes never reveal what brand they are?? you can always tell a miu miu from a louis vuitton but never ever a Zara-piece. What do you think?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:00 PM) :

I LOVE this dress... it gives her such a relaxed and comfortable look!!!

Blogger Megan said ... (1:24 PM) :

Doesn't every woman need some version of this dress?

Blogger Disneyrollergirl.net said ... (1:35 PM) :

Gorgeous, but the face helps a lot. What is so bad about the bag? I think if she wore say, some 'fiercer' high heeled-gladiators or similar shoes she'd look more put-together but then, just like so many other fashionistas. This way with the barely-there sandals, they're a bit 'not quite right' which of course makes it unique. (Somehow though, I can't image she'd be too bothered by our nit-picky critiques!)

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:16 PM) :

Love the dress, but wish I could see more of it. Don't love the shoes. Flip-flops belong on the beach, not in the city. Cute strappy sandals, maybe black gladiator type, would work better.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:46 PM) :

Nice, I'm assuming the fabric is a tissue weight soft cotton or the like. Otherwise it could be a little heavy in those colors for that heat in the daytime. The print skirt behind her looks cool, kind of keeping with retro theme I've been seeing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:29 PM) :

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...HER!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:31 PM) :

The dress is okay. the flip flops do nothing for her and clash with the bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:32 PM) :

FAST FORWARD BEAUTIFUL BABY X X X

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

The dress looks beautiful and comfortable, like a fashion classic already. Great colours!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:40 PM) :

bizarro natalie portman?

Blogger Baking With Plath said ... (3:47 PM) :

That's a really lovely dress. I'm not so much a fan of the shoes and purse, though. The outfit would have looked better with darker shoes, and with a different bag...I just don't like the shape. The dress, though...the dress is just wonderful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:16 PM) :

sumptous!

Blogger Meindert said ... (4:16 PM) :

Dear Sartorialist.

i love watching and reading your blog. at the moment i cant stop watching all the posts over at men.style.com.
I just have one question.
There is an awesome picture of a guy with silk shorts, golden shoes, and a nice tattoo on his leg. Is it maybe possible to see a full shot of him? I just really like his style and was wondering how he looked up.
Thank you for all the joy you give me.

Blogger Shen-Shen said ... (4:20 PM) :

I love the dress!

Blogger Olimpia Liberti said ... (4:33 PM) :

lovely picture
as always

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:44 PM) :

One of your sexiest shots ever! Her naked feet are amazing...

Blogger Ammie said ... (5:02 PM) :

These types of dresses can be a disaster, but she looks so sophisticated and elegant -- this is owning it. Inspirational.

My only gripe: I do love flip-flops, but I think they do not go well with this. The metallic is nice tho. I would have chosen a flat or heeled gladiator sandal, but to each their own.

Beautiful lighting and gorgeous pops of color in the background.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:49 PM) :

.

Great dress

can't believe someone's wearing flip-flops in Milan

Blogger CULTURE CREATORS said ... (7:34 PM) :

Sweet... i thought she was barefoot. Kinda looks like Natelie Portman...right?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 PM) :

I believe that is a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, from many seasons ago. My friend has one exactly like it, except with hot pink stitching!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 PM) :

A dress from a 2005 collection and a bag that's also from a few years ago, and she looks so amazing today! Now THAT is style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 PM) :

seriously...the whole "i hate flip flops" routine is tired. maybe we can just assume that everyone hates flip flops and it is unnecessary to comment on them. i think she looks great, and as someone mentioned before, she looks barefoot at first glance; the flip flops are pretty inoffensive to my eye. i agree something darker might have looked good, but then she would have looked just like everyone else! gorgeous dress, gorgeous girl.

Blogger PhilM said ... (11:49 PM) :

her whole outfit, comportment, and those sunglasses: eccellente! but why is she wearing flip-flops? she looks like she just walked off her back lawn.

Blogger Jini said ... (11:51 PM) :

the dress is gorgeous. the zippers on the bag are awful and those flip flops are way too boring! this dress deserves better.

Blogger Raiment Urbane said ... (12:12 AM) :

I love the whole look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 AM) :

Let's face it-- this girl is no gladiator. So, let's just go with the flip-flops, shall we?

Blogger jessica said ... (1:52 AM) :

i actually love the fact that the bag and sunglasses give a more sporty look to the very boho dress. i think it's something that most americans couldn't possibly pull off, but a european (esp an italian!) does well... it's about interpreting a trend, rather than just following one...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:09 AM) :

nice dress...and I am amazed that she can hold so many things at the same time!

Blogger margaux said ... (4:07 AM) :

love everything except the shoes. the other pieces have such a weight to them that's just unbalanced by her footwear. she looks so gorgeous and laidback that you just have to love her, though.

Blogger Moon said ... (5:55 AM) :

That dress is made of love! I adore it so much!

it really does make you feel good, that dress.

the person in the background also looks interesting, esp her heels.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

I got on here to ask about whether or not this is Natalie Portman, too! Crazy likeness, but thinking about it, she definitely doesn't smoke.

Love how feminine someone working can look!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:44 PM) :

I love her dress! I love her bag! I love her shades! And I just love the combination.

Blogger JO said ... (3:48 PM) :

I love the dress! I want it! BEAUTIFUL!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:06 AM) :

Isn't she kasia smutniak?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:41 AM) :

I have that dress, too :) I get so many compliments everytime I wear it :))

Blogger BEGT said ... (10:47 AM) :

lovely!!! flow and ease, perfect for late spring/early summer.

Blogger pearlaceous said ... (10:27 PM) :

Great on the go shot.. Lovely dress, hair, sunglasses, and accessories.. I love that even though she's on the phone, holding her bag, and holding a file, she has the time to smoke.. She's one chic multi-tasker

Blogger christie said ... (12:31 AM) :

it's bette franke, no?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 PM) :

This is great, a beautiful dress, but there is also something special about her comportment - ease and elegance. (Who would expect it from a boho dress w/ flip-flops!)
The barely-there shoes do work very well, they add to the sense of ease, and work in subtle ways... and seem related to the handcuff.
Truly inspiring!

Blogger Andy said ... (12:12 PM) :

omg, this outfit is jus awesome!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:33 PM) :

The dress is stunning, and her too ! I was hoping if someday you could cover more on kurtas/kurtis, they are comfy as far as I know, and beautiful as well. Nevertheless, you have always done a great job !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 AM) :

very pretty ,feminine and sexy, however the bag seems to be a little too serious for the look

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:01 PM) :

More american than italian though...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 PM) :

that's gotta be natalie!

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:11 PM) :

Stunning. Amazing colours and shape.
