he's lucky he has great legs to show off with the shorts!! I really love the shoes and the white armband things. anybody know what kind of bag that is? it rocks!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 AM) :

great look! love the white straps on the elbows and the hot pants on these hot legs.

wish i would dare to wear such short shorts ;-)

definetely something i may try out, soon.

still: i wonder if it's warm enough for such shorts isn't it too hot for these hi-top sneakers ... ?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:18 AM) :

Top photo: Did I wear this in the 80's? I like the shoes and the girl is lovely but I'm not digging the pants for some reason.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 AM) :

Oh, I dunno - I think it's just too, too, too . . . . . over the top.

Blogger John and Beatrice said ... (10:34 AM) :

We're wondering how the top look would work on a damsel less blessed with height? It's likely to stir a Nights of Arabia stampede of camels at the oasis. On this lovely muse, it works. The bottom look? Hmmm. It's a bit too Vanilla Ice crossing Fifth Avenue. The only thing missing? A mullet perhaps.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:38 AM) :

I'm into the black/white combo for Spring. First!

Blogger Fashion Addict said ... (10:41 AM) :

Reminds me of those ladies that change their shoes before they enter the office...
cute.
(cuter if it was a Sunday afternoon)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:45 AM) :

WOW. I love it. I like the glare from the cab (a clean one, at that) against the black outfit, and the fact that everyone in the foreground is wearing rather dark colors to make it pop. Secondly, great outfit. He has long lean legs to pull off the look- I would never wear high-tops and certainly not in zebra-on-acid stripe, but it works on him. Dress shirt with elastic sleeve straps (very Helmut Lang), workout shorts and high-tops, concluded with a rather dressy leather briefcase. Perhaps it is because everything fits him so well that the ensemble works. Thanks for a wonderful picture! Jorge from W Palm Beach

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:45 AM) :

He's rocking the high tops. Flash kicks such as those deserve to be worn with socks. Otherwise his feet will trash the insides of the shoes over time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:56 AM) :

Okay...the girl looks great, and I'm obsessed with the guy because he has on supras that nobody can find-with a YSl bag and short shorts...I never see these people on the street!

Blogger liz song mandell said ... (11:05 AM) :

oh my. at first i thought, "eh...that's a plain picture." BUT, i'm glad i zoomed in b/c the whole thing (bag, shoes, jacket, toned les, white x straps on elbows) almost makes me laugh but then i find myself surprisingly impressed.

thx for sharing this!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM) :

B&W...always a winner. Not too big on men shaving their legs though.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:08 AM) :

The lovely lady totally rocks the high waist pants. Strange proportions, but work very well on her. The second one is just hideous: I hate what this person is wearing, with passion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 AM) :

Love the Van Cleef & Arples building in the background!

The wheels of the car and the bands on his sleeves add so much extra to the photo!

Oh!and she looks so sweet in those harem pants!A great smile!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:18 AM) :

that guy really wants to wake me up
before you go go.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:20 AM) :

I want to be in Manhattan! Black and white almost always looks good....and I love the contrast photos, dressier/casual, female/male, front/back.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

I love the short running look with the hightops! Perfect for the spring

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:25 AM) :

nice legs. hate shaved legs in men though. anyway, I think he wants to get noticed and he manages to do it ok.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (11:41 AM) :

Love the first shot. Black and white always looks good and I love the proportions here. The high-waisted trousers are perfect with the white tank and the cropped trouser leg shows off her shoes and makes the entire ensemble light for Spring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 AM) :

wow. the high-waisted pants, somehow, really do look quite smashing on the woman.
as for the man, he sure has a great set of legs. (rawr). and i guess it helps that van cleef & arpels is in the background, too. *swoons*

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

Now that is a fine pair of legs! The outfit's good but it's the legs that get my juices flowing.....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

Check it out! Styling and sportif. Mierrrde, he looks good!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

The legs are the best part of the ensemble. But the outfit is good, too.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (12:21 PM) :

She looks so sweet!
And he as amazing legs!

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:27 PM) :

I have to say it too....
Hes got some damn awesome legs!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:31 PM) :

What's the deal with men shaving their legs? It is very unapplealing. Please stop it guys.

Blogger Anne Corrons said ... (12:32 PM) :

fabulous legs on Fifth Avenue!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:35 PM) :

Shaved legs. Man. Not a very good look. Since when is hair the enemy? Come on. It looks funny to say the least.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 PM) :

not feeling his shorts or his shoes. those are the supra sky top shoes and they are the worst thing to happen to skateboarding since lupe fiasco.

just one mans opinion.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (1:22 PM) :

I LOVE B&W for spring (or anytime really)!
He's intriguing: the white armband straps (what are they?); the shorts and hi-tops, and the YSL Muse...a truly unique combination.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 PM) :

She's charming-- how can anyone not find her so when she's able to rock those harem pants with such effortless style?

Not feeling this gentleman's look-- it all comes off too contrived and too self-conscious.

--PLO

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

Dudes got some chopsticks. He's "the perfect guy" He's got it all, so it seems. The jacket reminds me of some stuff Helmut Lang did when he first joined Prada group a ways back. His own label of course. McQueenish now maybe. I know somebody knows, and I must know, so, let me know. What do you mean No. HA!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:48 PM) :

i just bought the exact pants that that women is wearing and i was debating whether or not i should keep them. they're so hard to wear, and i have to wear them with heels because i'm very petite and they look goofy otherwise. this has inspired me to experiment with them a little more. any other suggestions for how to rock these pants would be much appreciated!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:07 PM) :

i want his legs!!!!!!

fab pictures.

K

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:38 PM) :

limited edition supras sold out everywhere.... which he is rocking... underneath perfectly toned and shaved legs, cuffed shorts.... it all seems a little intensively groomed and over the top to me. The garnish on-top of it all is the pose (as if he knows who was behind him at the moment!)
I mean... I would never want to make personality assessments due to clothes alone, but we have quite a character here...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:44 PM) :

Nice photos!

Blogger An Aesthete's Lament said ... (3:03 PM) :

His outfit is trying way too hard ... I'm all for creativity in one's wardrobe, but short-shorts, waxed legs, stripey high-tops, three-quarter-length sleeves, and what appears to be a glacé-finish leather manbag just doesn't cut it for a guy at midday in midtown Manhattan ...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:52 PM) :

The second look is very gay-club-camp. Meh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

Shaved legs. Hmmmmm
Not a very good look.
Unless he has a medical condition that necessitates the use of nair. In which case, i take my comment back.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:56 PM) :

The gentleman's shorts are a wee bit tight.
Also, the YSL bag is not unisex from what I know. Of course, there is nothing wrong with appropriating elements from the opposite sex, but it just doesn't look right. Especially combined with tight tight hot pants and those shoes, for which I have no words to describe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 PM) :

Ladies, what do you think about shaved legs on a man?
Attractive or repulsive?

Blogger Scott W said ... (4:24 PM) :

Dislike the attitude of the bottom photo, intensely. Those shoes are atrocious and especially untied. Shaved legs on men is a sin.

Blogger Nadine said ... (4:26 PM) :

Fantastic legs. Wow.

Blogger Alderrr said ... (4:55 PM) :

I like the high waisted pants, but I have to say this is one look that I think would have been better with flats.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :

I think the girl looks like a shapeless mess. The colours are nice (B&W: not hard to coordinate) but where are her legs in those things?? No calves, no curves, no nothing, just a waistline at the height my grandmother enjoys, with no torso left above the belt. Not a fan.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:35 PM) :

Great legs there but the whole thing looks too calculated and not natural enough to be pulled off. strategically done hair, the nice bag, the armbands....too much going on here.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:36 PM) :

Ah, the wonder that is high waisted pants on women...can make the most beautiful butt in the world look just awful. It's amazing, considering just how unflattering they are, that they still exist.

Blogger me said ... (5:37 PM) :

Love the black and white. I like the white straps on the man's shirt...not really sold on the rest.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:50 PM) :

I am definately not feeling this guy's look. Short shorts and high tops without socks...that hasn't looked good since Magic Johnson wore that look with tube socks while winning NBA titles in the 80s! Next time, he should think about sporting the sneaks with some jeans and the shorts with sandals, loafers, low cut sneaks, etc.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:33 PM) :

Many serious athletes, such as cyclists, often shave their legs. Those hot legs probably represent long hours of intense athletic activity. Love the look and the legs, but not the shoes.

Blogger Candace said ... (6:38 PM) :

I simply adore the woman's high-waisted pants...great look! But um, that guy has better legs than I do! His sneakers are dope however, do not deserve to be paired with some shorts like that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 PM) :

the second photo is definitely in my top ten Sart shots. The look is great, and that NY corner made me swoon. Not to mention, the to die for pants in shot number one. Thanks for making my day!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 PM) :

RE: Garth "Ah, the wonder that is high waisted pants on women...can make the most beautiful butt in the world look just awful."

....I wasn't aware that the sole purpose of fashion is to make one's butt look good. If this were true, every woman in the world would wear nothing but lululemon pants.

I'm not always fond of this style of pants either, but I think this woman rocks them. They're just baggy enough that they make a statement without swallowing her whole. I also love the subtle ruffles on the shirt...together with the bare ankles and shoulders, they keep the look very feminine and pretty. I am inspired!!

Blogger Erin Curry said ... (7:46 PM) :

He is so incredibly sexy.
His outfit is so fun. The sunglasses, turned up collar, armbands (Are those worn over the shirt or sewn to it?), shorts, perfectly fitted shorts with wide cuffs, watch and bracelet combo, and those ridiculous shoes. The groomed shaved legs and facial stubble are a necessary components.

He looks great.

My only tiny wish is that the rings on the bag were square.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 PM) :

the bag is a YSL bag

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 AM) :

The top she is wearing is "small" and nicely balances the volume of the pants below. I really love how she wears the whole outfit with such ease.

Competitive cyclists and swimmers will sometimes shave their legs so as to reduce drag. His legs do look like those of a serious athlete. In any case, if I were walking behind him, I would certainly enjoy the view afforded by those shorts. I'm not so keen on the loose tops of those shoes. Imagine how much better he would look with something fitted to the leg.

Blogger adervise said ... (1:23 AM) :

that first photo, SO GORGEOUS, what a chic look, such a glamorous but casual feel. She is a model, in my eyes, i wanna look like her, and be happy in Manhattan on a sunny day....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:52 AM) :

RE: Joy

While making the female butt look good is not the sole focus of all fashion, making it look vast and shapeless isn't either.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:38 AM) :

I am not old enough to remember what the `80 looked like, but without any period reference in my head, I see a hot guy in a very sporty and sexy outfit. For those who are dishing all the criticism above, I guess fashion really is about reminiscence.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 AM) :

Black and white ... not feeling it. I'd be so much happier if it were black and pale yellow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:28 AM) :

the shoes are supra available at pickyourshoes.com if you want to put up with the most hair-tearing-out level of customer service you can imagine and obv the bag is YSL. great combo on this fine antelope of a gay.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

I hate guys who have better legs than I :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:29 AM) :

Ok, the possibility of him being a serious athlete aside and my indiference to shaved legs for men in such a case, i still do not like this getup. Looks a little, I mean, way over the top, contrived, and the shorts are too short for his apparent circumstance.

Blogger Jessica Chu said ... (10:41 AM) :

i was just in new york city this week! perhaps i missed you? lol

Blogger Coryn said ... (11:45 AM) :

I enjoy the woman's pants...not to fond of the man's ensemble, however.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

Oooooh a man purse!! Saw alot of those in Tokyo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:28 PM) :

The woman is a fashion editor at W...of course she looks great!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:52 PM) :

What a great smile on the lady on top. B & W perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:04 PM) :

A little harsh are we Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous in between Reanna and Specialward's comment? There's nothing messy about this girl. I see plenty of torso above the belt and fyi, calves appear on the backside of one's legs and this is a full frontal shot, so not quite sure how you know this one's. That complexion is fabulous and what a sweet smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:40 PM) :

Love the guy, love his shaved legs. love the tight shorts. i'm old enough to remember when men wore tight jeans (the early 70s) and you could see their butts - cute, high butts. then all that hip hop baggy stuff took over and i lost my view of those cute butts. this guy brings it back. more! more!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:05 PM) :

Shorts - yes.
Legs - yes.

Shoes - NO.
Needs sleek track shoes, or battered shaggin-in-the-sand loafers.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:42 AM) :

Top image: cute.

Bottom image: WOW! Find me some smelling salts because I feel faint. I love NY!
Great ensemble! Striking photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 AM) :

Who makes her pants? They are perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:21 AM) :

I just bought a pair of vintage pants (two days ago!!) that are exactly the same as the ones that girl is wearing. My boyfriend thinks they're 'dorky'. The Sartorialist doesn't. Guess who's opinion I'm going to go with?

Blogger 漫麼麼 mor'smirror said ... (10:45 AM) :

the girl looks great!!

Blogger ikanbilis said ... (11:50 AM) :

the legs looks awesome

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:03 PM) :

Just wondering, if the "Walk" signal (walking man) is lit, why is no one crossing the sidewalk?

Blogger Yetunde said ... (2:46 PM) :

I cannot wait to go to New York.

Blogger Sara Katt said ... (4:55 PM) :

Wow, I've never heard of men with shaved legs. Swedish men are hairy.

I love her high waist pants! I actually have a pair very much alike in grey.

Blogger Violet Harrington Pickles said ... (6:12 PM) :

No No No ....
I cannot take such fabulous legs on a man.
The ensemble gets a resounding no, jealous beast that I am.
... but love the elastic sleeve bands.

Blogger Always In Style said ... (6:13 PM) :

I love what she's wearing - very 80s but in a good way. Looks very comfortable and stylish.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

I'm curious what he looks like from the front! Also, in response to the first comment, I think the bag is a Phillip Lim tote.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:05 PM) :

is it me or does he have a YSL muse bag..????

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:23 PM) :

I LOVE her pants! That's the kind of silhouette I feel really good in. If you are tall with a small waist but wider hips, this is such a good look--it's flattering and very comfortable! She looks lovely.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:03 AM) :

I think the photo of the woman wearing the pants would rarely work on most women -maybe a model. I think it works on her because she has this genuine smile, indie, happy go lucky look to her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:14 AM) :

Love shoes any socks

Blogger beautifulchaos said ... (7:41 AM) :

were are you scott? i miss you and your great pohots...!

have a nice day

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:54 AM) :

The man's photo is a bit of gay porn isn't it? I jhave nothing against that because he does have great legs and I have immense respect for anyone who can be so confident just walking the streets in that kind of look. Look at his stance, he stands like he rules the place, and he didn't even know that Sart was taking the picture-just the way he is. That's great.

Energie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 PM) :

i have the same sneakers..and i'm pretty sure i wear the same outfit with them...but i'm a woman. either way, WORK THEM. amazing taste.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:25 AM) :

It takes great confidence and not to mention great legs to wear short shorts on the streets... You'll have to pay me a billion bucks to wear one... Love the look! But the shoes... hmmm... it added something waaay beyond expected, so I liked it... and did I mention about the legs?

durrty

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:12 AM) :

Yaye for loose pants - I just bought a pair myself for the summer, and they're so comfortable!

Nice kicks on the guy, and nice legs too. Those two things are really helping him pull off the rather short shorts. ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:41 AM) :

I LOVE her pants. she looks great. does anyone know who makes a similar pair??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:17 PM) :

i want her pants!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:39 PM) :

I am not 100% positive. But after looking at Fall/Winter 2008/09 YSL, it almost looks like a pair from YSL. Or it may be an influenced brand from the YSL collection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:44 AM) :

for all the critics on this comment list and others, i wonder what you guys look like? these people in the pictures look great.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:24 PM) :

on the top photo, anyone knows where the trousers are from? they're amazing.. thanks!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:12 AM) :

The man bag really looks like a bag that I have, the Celine Nautil bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:20 PM) :

Yowza!! Nice legs!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:53 PM) :

That guy is hot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:48 PM) :

I wanna see the front of mr. shorts !

Blogger An Aesthete's Lament said ... (10:56 AM) :

Am pretty sure I sat across the aisle from him on the subway this morning. Same bag, same jacket, same legs. Hair is bleached Champagne blond now (a very good dye job, actually). Actually an incredibly handsome guy but WAY too much foundation and powder. (I swear it, though magnificently applied.) He got off the B train at 34th Street.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:49 PM) :

I think everything he has on is hott...The Supra Kamakazi's are amazing...The Bag...is so hott...and the look and the confidence he portraits with his sexy shorts and his lovely legs! It is a well executed look!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:12 PM) :

Love Supra footwear!
