Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

he is beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

I don't know is it the picture that makes this man look so great and somehow even mysterious or it's just his style that makes him a real dream man. Love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 AM) :

oh. my. god.

--catches breath--

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

I hate to admit it but that guy looks infinitely cooler than me. Really great location for this subject too. Looks kind of like a cleaner cut ewan mcgregor

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 AM) :

Damn cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 AM) :

hmm attractive .... what's his phone number ? :)Sophie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

He's a bit of a throwback to 1967, isn't he?
Not in a bad way. In a completely average way.

Blogger Poochie said ... (10:49 AM) :

Oh my goodness, I think I just fell in love.

He is just divine.

Luv
Poochie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 AM) :

since i got my nerd glasses weeks ago, i decided not to wear my contacts anymore... im glad to see a lotta guys doing the same.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

Very, very hot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 AM) :

So Hot and Sexy at the same time, I want to marry him!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

The intense gaze, the eyes, the eye glasses, the look, the pose and the cigarette...,very James Dean!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 AM) :

ahh, those cheecks!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:22 AM) :

Did you really snap this photo at Yale? When did students start wearing jackets to class again? Very Ivy League, though, the hair, the glasses, the pose.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

love his attitude and the way his clothes go with it

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 AM) :

LOVE*!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:35 AM) :

Lovely. Just lovely. Nice to see standards are still being maintained in New Haven. Drives home what Birmingham wrote a few years ago:

According to the best possible source - the Social Establishment itself - the most important college, socially, is unquestionably Yale. Princeton has a lot of glamour, but Yale is solider.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

is this ripley?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 PM) :

i'm in love.... and the background colors work wonderfully.

Blogger Jack said ... (12:16 PM) :

is this a young gordon ramsay?

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (12:20 PM) :

Amazing look! Great photo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

Hi Nic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

what! what! i go to school here, this is right out back from our art studios and i stand out there everyday! when did this happen! why wasn't i there! and who is this person? he's not an art student...but no matter. he looks great! we're bringing sexy back at yale!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 PM) :

I would love to read sartre with him...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:43 PM) :

He's fantastic. Great shot, Sart!

Blogger cat minoki said ... (12:50 PM) :

He fits definitely my pattern of predation...
I think his hair does it. The cut and the colour.
The grey jacket. The age of course.
Don´t know if he was that cool without the glasses.
But I´d try to find out about it!

Blogger The Spicers said ... (1:18 PM) :

He's a 21st century Holden Caulfield...brooding rumpled, intelligent-looking. Great shot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 PM) :

He's a freshman.
Infinitely cool is right... with glasses or without.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 PM) :

Great shot. Good looking kid. The clothes really don't matter on this one. I think I'm seeing an unbuttoned cuff on jacket, if so, I'm satisfied that it may be more legit than it looks in this particular pose/stance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

Great portrait. This charming man... Classic pure style. Love his mischievous glare penetrating from behind those perfect glasses! (A very young) Jason Bateman meets Holden Caufield.

--PLO

Blogger Sam Carlisle said ... (2:06 PM) :

Nic, oh Nic, this is a jealous day...calls to mind your words of, "halcyon days of strawberries and summer wine". This is where they have drifted to.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:50 PM) :

All the prep boys just continue to dress as they did at prep school. That goes on at Princeton, Harvard, Yale and even Columbia. If he's at Yale he'll have a backpack somewhere nearby.

I mean it's just prep moving through Ivy League. It's pretty standard.

Hey, Sart ... head on up to Columbia... you know, Morningside Heights, it's still a part of Manhattan, you'll find that there as well, just not as often.

You always wait for us to come to you and well, face it, the preppies just don't get out that much.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:06 PM) :

awesome jacket. where can i get one like that? how many buttons does that sucker have?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:59 PM) :

I wanna marry this man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:04 PM) :

I'd totally pretend to need his class notes!

I love the way he's wearing the glasses, and not the other way round, if you know what I mean... I see too many 'statement' glasses on men nowadays, and it always seem to: "*uh* lets plan my outfit around my glasses today"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:20 PM) :

'Beautiful Mind'

Blogger Scott W said ... (4:21 PM) :

I don't even care that he smokes.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:25 PM) :

what an absolutely gorgeous man. wow. can't stop fawning over him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:25 PM) :

He is my freshman year dream come true. And I went to RISD damn it!
<< Swoon>>

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:32 PM) :

God. Such fawning admiration.

Barf. He's not attractive at all.

What, are you all on crack?

Blogger jatue said ... (4:41 PM) :

holygoodness

he is teh sex.

is that a hole above his pocket? it almost looks like there used to be a button there. but that wouldn't make any sense.

Blogger David said ... (4:42 PM) :

I can't possibly be the only person that thinks early Corey Feldman when seeing this picture, can I?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:57 PM) :

He is a wonderful example of the confident, sexy, nerdy guy that doesn't get much play. I mostly see guys working the high water pants, small jacket, glasses nerd-look (Wes Anderson). This is much classier and not forced.

And the gaze....sigh....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 PM) :

I love this blog but never comment on any of the photos, except this one, wow, took my breath away!

I definitely wish more guys on campus dressed like this, however being in Cincinnati its very doubtful.

Absolutely fantastic photo/outfit/attitude/man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:21 PM) :

Ewan Mcgregor!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 PM) :

Cool cat. In a sort of J.D. Salinger kind of way.

Blogger Richard said ... (5:51 PM) :

To sexy. He looks like Ewan Mc Gregor. I like very very much

Blogger cat minoki said ... (6:16 PM) :

... and girls ,-please! has anyone of you noticed his beautiful banded collar?
the ink-blue pocket square?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 PM) :

Gotta love the collar on his shirt. And the pocket square...makes the ensemble complete by tying in the color of his jeans.

The guy is so totally cool yet so completely hot at the same time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:29 PM) :

What is that? A mix between Jimmy Dean, the Weezer guy and Matt Damon. Nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:49 PM) :

he looks like corey feldman circa stand by me (teddy duchamp), all grown up and all dressed up.

the attitude, the coordinating pocket square.. it's all there.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:14 PM) :

fashionably-handsome.

Blush**

K

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 PM) :

Wow, he is gorgeous!! Practically perfect. Does anyone know who he is ?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 PM) :

potentially the best guy you have ever posted.

i would never date a smoker but i'd date this one and then some!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:02 PM) :

If you like this, come to Glasgow! Little more smudged around the edges, but in a good way....

Blogger aviewaskew said ... (8:28 PM) :

carpe diem...WOW

Blogger Stephanie said ... (8:35 PM) :

I'm gonna go with the Holden Caulfield take on this one.

"The boy himself is at once too simple and too complex for us to make any final comment about him or his story. Perhaps the safest thing we can say about Holden is that he was born in the world not just strongly attracted to beauty but, almost, hopelessly impaled on it."

—Original book jacket copy of The Catcher in the Rye, possibly partially written by Salinger (so say wikipedia with a sited source, but I liked the quote all the same).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:38 PM) :

erm, jason bateman?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 PM) :

OMG, he's SOOO Holden Caldfield!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 PM) :

I heard you spent some time at my school recently...put the Princeton pictures up!!!

This guy does impress me though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 AM) :

you should see him on the dance floor...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 AM) :

very bloody sexy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

Wow, yes. My first thought was "Corey Feldman lost weight! He's lookin' good!"

But no. The look-alike is attractive though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:17 AM) :

oh my god, he's wearing a jacket
and glasses! He must be ivy league. So fucking interesting.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 AM) :

I love,I am a fan of, and an undeniable participant of this timeless tradition...true american style!
peace and love
fresh to death

great eyewear, proportion and aesthetic!
lovely

Blogger onegiantpanda said ... (2:19 AM) :

I want that jacket. There's something about thread.

I own a similar one that I pretty much ripped in two one night in a moment of drunken enthusiasm, waving my arms about. Sigh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:24 AM) :

loved this on GQ !
I wrote a paper about you and your blog for one of my finals !!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:24 AM) :

Do you guys think that the blazer are made of linen?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:29 AM) :

You think that jacket are made of linen?

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (9:04 AM) :

A very cool picture. But it´s the cigarette that makes him look cool!

Blogger hh said ... (10:29 AM) :

i was just in that building on wednesday. crazy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

is he the Talented Mr.Ripley?!
the similarity is uncanny

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:41 AM) :

oh come on..merry me !!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

See... the women really go for this look, rather than the potential-criminal look that usually adorns this blog.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 PM) :

I love the coat, jeans and glasses. But I have to disagree that this is ivy league style. Ivy league is america's native aristocrat style, and this guy's unkempt hair and collarless shirt make it seem like working-man chic. If he combed his hair and put on an oxford-cloth button-down, then I might call it ivy league.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:52 PM) :

I am a total sucker for this look. He's perfect and dead sexy.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:18 PM) :

Oh god - he is heaven! Did you get his contact details Sart? He looks like a dream! The glasses, the blazer smoking.. I could actually gawp at him all day long - in fact maybe I should never meet him, I might freak him out.

His style is so beautiful that it is the kind of style I would want to replicate as a woman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:39 PM) :

oh man. i usually can't stand this type of boy, but everything about this picture is perfect. he does the look well. and that is the best come-hither expression i've seen in awhile!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:50 PM) :

anyone know the brand for the jacket/glasses?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:00 PM) :

Parisian Geek chic. It's all kinds of stylish.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:24 PM) :

ever post/publish any of the princeton pics?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:12 PM) :

really everyone? i respectfully disagree. a jacket, glasses and a cigarette, he's clearly first in line for an arcade fire concert or a corey feldman / kd lang look-alike competition.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:32 AM) :

personally, I think nic's cuter when he smiles.

Blogger ellastica said ... (4:14 AM) :

this look is pure class. nothing about what he's wearing screams for attention but upon closer inspection his choices are distinct and razor-sharp.
great jacket. fitted without being too snug or awkward. the fabric has a lightness to it without looking flimsy or cheap. classic but relaxed.
what's the name of this type of shirt w/out a collar? always loved these kind of shirts on guys. very sexy.
the piping sort of detail at the waist of his jacket is a nice touch. also those glasses are fresh. the shape is almost a subtle cat-eye.
the subtley and lack of flash is what made this look stand out for me.
great eye as usual!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:10 AM) :

Another Jason Bateman *swoon*

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:43 AM) :

Does anyone know who makes these glasses?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:07 AM) :

dreamy except for the cigarette.

when will fashion dispose of the idea that smoking is attractive? i have yet to meet someone who i would consider more beautiful being a smoker. this fellow is just another example. he would appear a lot more confident and sexy (to me) without it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 PM) :

Street style bloggers are so partial to Yalies... please visit Cambridge next fall.. . for the 1/20 gem.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:36 PM) :

i would marry him

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:56 PM) :

Great Style !

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:55 PM) :

I love this photo because it looks like his style or what he is wearing was really not on his mind that day, but instead he is the student in deep thought after a tough lecture needing a smoke break wondering what he is going to write for his final thesis.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 AM) :

Indeed - he looks like Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

He won't look this good in the future unless he quites smoking, though.

Blogger Fashion Tidbits said ... (4:10 AM) :

very good looking! :D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:10 AM) :

i have to admit, most of these comments made me laugh hard.

i think ted, up top, got it right.

as for the person who said that this young man does not have the "ivy league look" either you know nothing about the boarding school/ivy league culture or you are just being facetious. if you were going after the joke end of it, well i admit it, you did make me laugh.

the one thing i would like to see is that we stop dismissing sartorial styles we can't relate to as being criminal/lame/thugish. i have never seen the sart post even one pic where i thought the man looked like he was going to descend into delinquency.

if anything, the guys look good natured/sweet/fun or even better yet, as if they could be the life of the party due to their personality. but never, criminal. i might not love the look of this particular sartorial story, but i appreciate the fact that the sart took the time to capture it, reminding me that this style also exist.

Blogger U:et said ... (5:31 AM) :

that man is just dreamy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 AM) :

The attitude, the coolness, he looks a lot like Ewan McGregor.

-VD-

Blogger I ♥ You said ... (10:35 AM) :

James Dean meets Dead Poets Society. Brillz.

Blogger suzannemarques said ... (9:05 PM) :

he is delicious! the mussed hair, the attitude, the glasses and the clothing. fantastic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:29 AM) :

haha, i know this kid... always well-dressed. he's actually british, not american. i am sure new york will see much more of him in the upcoming years.

Blogger infogenium said ... (1:45 AM) :

Obviously no-one else is a fan of the BBC Doctor Who series - this young man is chanelling David Tennant (the Scottish actor playing the current Doctor Who) and doing a fine imitation. Bring it on lads - more like this I say.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:00 AM) :

@12:30 PM wrote: "the potential-criminal look that usually adorns this blog"

what the hell???

Blogger phoebe said ... (8:41 PM) :

As good as he looks,
the jacket is just too tight, he clearly cannot raise his arms and he must be uncomfortable...
you should be able to move comfortably in your clothes...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:01 AM) :

I didn't want to sounds silly, but I can see I'm not alone- he is gorgeous! The hair and glasses really does it. I agree, he does look a lot like Ewan McGregor, who is also incredibly sexy. Ah, perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:01 AM) :

Nicolas Niarchos. Pretty cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

I can never decide if my first instinct would be to break these kind of boys' glasses or to give them a kiss.

Both would be flirting though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM) :

why does everyone look infinitely cooler when holding a cigarette?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:06 PM) :

Exurban escape: hopefully, he'll get contact lenses as he'd still need to be able to see you to either flirt back or to back hand you :)

Blogger aap71 said ... (4:55 PM) :

1st impression: combo of ewan M. and Toby M (both scots by heritage, both have better teeth than actual local scots)

2nd, stronger impression: this guy is the spitting image of the American Beauty film character Ricky Fitz! You know, the kid with the gay dad who dealt pot and made movies? This is him at college.
I was at Yale (JE '96) when Rumpus published a beautiful people issue: it proved the truth: hot kids go to Chico State & studying is what ugly people must resort to.

Blogger Hana said ... (5:23 PM) :

i would love to understand the excitement about this boy... why does everyone here find him so amazing?

Blogger A. said ... (1:35 AM) :

this is how i wish my boyfriend would dress.

Blogger amy said ... (10:13 AM) :

oh my god. i get tingly looking at this guy. the glasses, the stare. don't care if he's trying too hard, he's dreamy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:53 PM) :

sorry, this is not ewan mcgregor...
but michael j. fox, plus and extra special something...
purrrrr... make him visit berlin!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 PM) :

thats my boyfrienddd!

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:05 PM) :

*Swoon*

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:03 PM) :

How do you get people to pose for you??
whenever i ask, they get all awkward and fidgety.
Good subjects? or maybe you're just such a talented photographer, lol.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 PM) :

my mind went right to dead poet's society.
fantastic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:36 PM) :

i think im in love! he is the epitomy of perfection.

he looks so great i can even forget how much i hate smoking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

""Anonymous said ... (11:17 PM) :
thats my boyfrienddd!""

he is not your boyfriend. why would you say that?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 AM) :

Isn't this the son of the unerringly stylish Daphne Guiness?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:27 AM) :

yes, he is daphne guinness eldest son if im not mistaken

Blogger Lydia-Lee-Ottawa said ... (3:21 PM) :

Which brand of glasses are those?

Blogger LordGQ said ... (3:09 PM) :

This photo is , by far, my favorite.

This guy knows himself. The glasses make him smart. The blazer makes him ''chic'' , and the cigarette makes him ''artistic''.

Love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:02 PM) :

The glasses are by Yellows Plus

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:48 PM) :

He looks really great. the whole pose-outfit-cigarette-stained wall look is just fantastic!

But I've seen so many people wearing glasses like that but with non-prescription lenses. Which (I know i sound like a narc)is just plain irritating. The nerd look is turning into poser. And it's bad for those of us that actually NEED to wear glasses.

*end rant*

har.

(L.A Eyeworks do some really great frames for not too expensive)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 PM) :

Hello, American cool-version of Ewan McGregor. :) I wish more guys dressed like this at my Midwestern liberal arts college. Roadtrip to the Ivies!

Blogger Reuxben said ... (11:05 PM) :

Haha--as someone mentioned, this guy is actually British (he's in one of my classes this semester). Always great style, but most Yalies don't dress like this, of course.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 PM) :

This has very good style, just like me.... I think I feel in love. Joking. Nice picture though.

Blogger The Anonymous Girl/Woman said ... (5:09 PM) :

This man is gorgeous. I will track him down I swear to it!

I saw this in the book "The Sartorialist" and just spent the past 30 minutes looking for this picture online. He's so dreamy, and preppy, and nerdy... awesome
