Oh, this is so me! It's not exactly inspiring, it rather reconfirms my way - thank you, Sart, thank you, girl!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:09 AM) :

Love it! Her look really great!

Yesterday I was in Rice and I thought that girl looks like she should be on The Sartorialist site and there she is! So adorable.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:24 AM) :

oh i'm first!!!! and i'm sorry, i'm just not feeling that oufit. not a fan of that particular sillhouette.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (10:33 AM) :

That is a BIG bag for such a little lady.

LOVE the knit coat. Good call. Her navy/army green colour mix is great too.

Knit as outerwear works if it looks warm. The texture of the knit is important because of the cosiness factor but also to avoid looking 'bulky'. The style of knitwear in the photo works (long cardigan) but it would work better if it was a colour other than black. Turquoise or chocolate brown perhaps...

That bag!! I love it.

Blogger FreshSamantha said ... (11:49 AM) :

I love the bag but I hate how it's obstructing her...perhaps she should give it to me. Love the hat/scarf combo, very inspiring for today.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 PM) :

Quite chilly for a change, but the girl is dressed in warm clothes. The bag could be another color, now it is taking too much space.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:49 PM) :

Love the hat scarf combo, and the color combo in general (minus the black shoes.)

But I feel like she is making herself look heavier and shorter. She seems lost behind her clothes.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (5:03 PM) :

What a beautiful scarf, and I love the wide-legged wool pants!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:52 PM) :

I love this look, she looks like a real person, not a styled person. And great background!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 PM) :

um no. no. and no. sorry. she's cute though.

Blogger Susan B said ... (7:21 PM) :

Love how she's coordinated the colors with the hat and scarf! Proof that there is a middle ground between clashing and matchy-matchy.

Blogger so said ... (7:47 PM) :

love the crochet hat,

& the knit sweater!

This is my favorite shot in a very long time. Being from Miami and now living in New Haven, CT, I always wonder how to dress for the cold (seriously, the concept of layering was a breakthrough for me during my first winter). Thank you for this wonderful inspiration!

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:37 PM) :

Nubby, cozy, and comfy. I am glad the bag is not a predictable patent-garbage-bag look ... that would have ruined it! Instead, it looks as though she has chosen an original big bag ... This makes the look her own. The trousers are just the right length. Also, I love it when I see women wearing hats in the winter. She is sensibly chic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:35 AM) :

love it! she looks so cozy. just how i want to feel this winter.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:32 AM) :

just love the accessaries..the scarf and the bag, i'm looking for a bag like this everywhere!

Blogger Anne Corrons said ... (4:03 AM) :

I love the hat and the bag! A great look!q

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 AM) :

can't believe this photo has attracted some negative comments! she looks great. not all like the usual new york photos where all the subjects look like they've all bought their clothes yesterday. more photos like this please-- less YSL high heels and logo bags. love her colors. love the slight suggestion of the 1920s. love her individuality. this is style, not fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:03 AM) :

I wish I had the guts to go out like that... she looks comfortable and warm, an adorable christmas elf.

Blogger shabnom said ... (11:28 AM) :

Well she looks warm! I love her scarf, and I like that her hat and bag are things that wouldn't work for everyone but work great for her.

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (11:34 AM) :

I think she looks adorable!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:07 PM) :

I second the observation above: this is style, not fashion. I love these kinds of photos --thanks, Sart.

Blogger Mrs Smith said ... (6:19 PM) :

I like the look - to look truly comfortable and carelessly good is a feat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:44 PM) :

The melange isn't bad, but her shoes ruin the outfit. A pair of quality black leather boots are needed here. There's just so far you can go without saying "ragamuffin."

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:06 PM) :

does anyone know who makes that bag? -- or maybe it's vintage.... i love love love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:59 AM) :

I like women who have the guts to dress as they please .
That´s freedom and power.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

The proportions are just out of whack. Don't like it.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:55 PM) :

She is darling, but that purse is wearing her....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM) :

Too baggy, but she looks warm.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:33 PM) :

i love the "left" piece in the background. Man, that guy gets around.
