beautifully made 80's look. but the socks make her legs look like parenthesis. sorry..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:43 AM) :

Woah. Talk about taking a trend and just wrapping it around your little finger. She has really made this look her own. The hair is amazing on her!

Blogger positively the same dame said ... (10:51 AM) :

She scares me a little, but she's very interesting. Very.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

She looks like a futuristic "Lilla My" from the Moomins. =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

OK. Here's what I see (and I'm no expert on fashion, far from it). But people in Stockholm seem to dress very individually, unlike folks in Paris, who seem to strive for a consensual look, but unlike the youngsters in London, who seem to be playing dress up more than dressing well. It's a fine line, right? But this woman would make me turn around and nod appreciatively rather than raise my eyebrows.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 PM) :

This isn´t even funny. She has gone over the line.I can´t understand you Sart. What in the world were thinking about?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 PM) :

This has gone over the line?

What line?

She's really played with shapes, lines and contrast here. She looks fierce. I love the glasses and her platinum blonde hair.

jacques p.: I would say that the truth is that people do not dress overly individualistic here in Stockholm. It is true that the looks that are caught in photos like Sartorialist's depict very fashionable outfits and indeed the average style level in Stockholm is comparatively. But what's going on in fact is that there are on average three large trends dominating the fashion scene at any given moment, and the absolute majority of the people are following one or more of this trends. So what you get is a high degree of fashion inside a strict set of frames. Not very individualistic. It is said that the single largest thing that dictates the fashion scene in Stockholm is H&M, as they rotate what's in the stores every three weeks or so.

love it! love the whole thing..this is how to wear black in hotter weather..and the bubble skirt is too cool!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:12 PM) :

love this look. jacket is luscious, glasses fashion forward
and does anyone know where toget a dress/jumper similar to that?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:34 PM) :

Oh no. Mad Max is back in town??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 PM) :

Finally -- bicycles!

Where are the Stockholm bicycle pix, Sart?

Seriously now -- I'd love to see a candid series of this girl taken over a period of time. I hope you see her next time you're over there.

erik's comment is very interesting. A review of the Stockholm photos bears him out: the looks are, on the whole, quite trendy. But, it seems it's done very well, which is no small accomplishment. I'd love to know what it is about the Stolkholmers (socially, economically, culturally, etc--speaking) that results in this general fashion sense...

On this photo: I covet her jacket, and her face with that bun and those glasses is totally cute. But those shiny nude colored leggings are just awful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 PM) :

Just wanted to say that your pictures are lovely. I love the idea of a blog like this. Way to go and keep up the good work!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

I've seen this girl on at least three other fashion blogs. What is interesting about her is how she manges to soften a very modern/futuristic/urban look. I think that people are also attracted to her glasses.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:26 PM) :

Good shot. Great light and the white part of the street complements her clothes. She looks amazing by the way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:52 PM) :

oh man, i just love this... it's how i think of 2007. futuristic, present. i love the shape of the jumper.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 PM) :

I thought exactly the same as Sarah did: Lilla My from Moomintroller!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

Very powerful look. The mail person of the future perhaps?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 PM) :

I think the glasses utterly make the look :)

this is a perfect 21st century reinterpretation of the 80s. good find, one of your best at a retro 80s look without it looking like the 80s as i lived it. this is good inspirational style.

Blogger Keiler said ... (8:22 PM) :

I love the way she uses her own skin & hair colors to determine the palette of her outfit. The fact that she sticks to two colors & subtle variations make you really notice the fluctuations between matte & shiny.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:54 PM) :

Now this a great look. The dress reminds me of what Chloe did for F/W 2007. Such a weird shaped dress, and I love it. The platinum blond hair sets everything off, and then the glasses tone her down. She executed this nicely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 PM) :

she looks crazy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 PM) :

To an.1.03 pm. She has crossed the line of what is decent and what is not, what is proper and what is not.Did you get it?

Blogger Eastern Aisle Credit Solutions, Inc. said ... (12:12 AM) :

WOW is all I could say.. well come to think of it, she looks like a futuristic, hot librarian.. and I mean that in a cool way.. ;)

Blogger WendyB said ... (2:45 AM) :

The hair is very striking.

Blogger La Purpura said ... (3:48 AM) :

She is definitly a mixture of PIKKU MYY or Lilla My (from the finish children´s book moomins) and Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner.Check up an compare!

Nice mixture, two original ladies.

waiting for summer in the south, winter was better in north...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 AM) :

too much vynil, flinstones hairdo and the leggings make me itch just at looking them!I think the 50's should be the new 80's...

Blogger ontheMARC said ... (1:47 PM) :

her face is ridiculous! she is so fresh and pretty and then she completely throws you for a loop with the tough ensemble. LOVE the contrast

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 PM) :

I love the contrast between her doll-cute-face and all the black leather, buckles and boots. Her glasses is just perfect to complete it all!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:34 PM) :

She certainly makes you look at her twice. Love the big 80's style glasses. Not too sure about the nude leggings, it makes her look like she has fake legs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

she is from gothenburg and she is a stylist. And hello sartorialist when are you going to visit the real fashion city in sweden?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 PM) :

love the top knot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:39 PM) :

at swedish lassie. I know your jealous but you got to be kidding me!

Blogger Pistachio Of Liberty said ... (2:21 AM) :

I don't have too much to say about the photo itself, however: this is one of my favorite posts because the parts of the comment thread have become a conversation.

When there's no dialogue - I mean, what fun is that? Too often people seem to have posted without having read the remarks of others (sometimes even repeatedly asking questions which have already been answered upthread). Anyway, this is more fun. JMHO.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:32 PM) :

Her bag is fantastic

Blogger Canada said ... (9:36 PM) :

Yyyyah... I would like to see "Matte, Flat & Shinny" in the old NYC a year later... Hmmmm makes me wonder if this little lady would be the same b/c she really is more stateside then europini. She's part H & M cross wanna be BDSM, she's like, begging to be knotted

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:00 AM) :

Stockholm est un réservoir d'idée question look, et j'adore leur créativité, rock et cool à souhait. Et ton blog est le 3eme oeil de la mode. merci....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:44 PM) :

Erik, I totally agree with you! There are always three trends to pick from in this town (Stockholm, that is),and you get it all in H&M.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:17 AM) :

I like the simplicity, the way skin and hair are ennanced by the look. As a 48 years old blond I recentely discovered the versatility of skin related tones to build an outfit: Beige, coral, a little red and a little white. No black aroud the face...
