Eye opening moment: This is the first time I've ever liked the look of tassle loafers! Amazing what a little sprezzatura can do...I've always associated the tassle with forked-tonged attorneys, and here they are looking earthy, honest and legit. Thanks for the perspective!

Fascinating historical pastiche--looks like an old daguerrotype or something.
whatever the intent was here, I don't think it's working; she looks terribly overburdened and dragged down by the weight of her bag and clothes. The odd bunchiness of the skirt, and the way that the shininess of the top highlights all the crumples and wrinkles, are also unfortunate, in my eyes. Plus, white shoes with this ensemble? Really? (I *do* like the glasses, though!)
Just saw Belmondo last night in BREATHLESS and this jacket- also in Paris!- is the total opposite. But BOTH are great!
I like the way the high vamp tasseled loafers complement the cut of his trousers. The sweater cut and fit ruin the otherwise nonchalant look. Great b/w shot!

It's a very Lanvin kind of look.
The way Alber Elbaz dresses these days. But Mr. Tonchi is much slimmer and that gives it a whole different push. Great photo by the way !

This must be antique.
A miss, unfortunately: tie too large and skewed, cardigan/vest unbuttoned at the bottom looks sloppy beneath the jacket. The general unkempt air also works against the effectiveness of the pants length by making the observer uncertain as to whether its intentional or not.

If I didn't know he is a fashion world person of import by the Sartorialist headline, I'd say, oh, he's wearing flood pant jodphurs with a too small jacket and a crooked tie, and figure I'm seeing a comedian.
I'm fairly old, and don't remember people wearing the squeezing-into-jacket-look-on purpose in other decades, so I don't get the retro oohing and ahing.
Maybe I missed it.
That this is cool is something I'm working on getting used to. By the time I get there, it'll be over.
