Simple and summer-y. Neutrals with a nice pop of color, I like it.

I would itch for that cardigan!!!!!!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (9:33 AM) :

She looks so great! The dress, the shoes, the bag, the hair and the smile!

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (9:34 AM) :

For a long time I've admired certain women's ability to wear dresses with that silhouette. She looks fantastic. Also, she's added that cute little cardi, and she wears it with aplomb. I like that look and wish I could do it myself.

I love the blue bag, and though it takes center stage--even over the shoes--it's not O.T.T.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 AM) :

I love this. All of it. The cute easy dress, the effortless cardigan, the shoes (!), the bag. Love it.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (9:59 AM) :

Pretty blue bag, and I love the gold circle espadrilles. Lovely!

Blogger fashionnerd said ... (10:10 AM) :

the white blue and yellow are just so pleasant to look at...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

Look at how cute and trendy we are: mini shift dress (check), wedges (check), frame bag (check), baloon sleeve jacket (check), hair band (check check check!)

But, to her defense, that is EXACTLY how you wear all these summer trends. Bravo, miss.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

i love that this is a younger look on an older person, and yet still looks appropriote

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:26 AM) :

Those shoes! Those shoooeees! Yum.

Blogger hoi polloi said ... (11:00 AM) :

I think this is one of the rare instances when I like the trapeze baby doll. Too often it looks overly trendy, but this lady looks relaxed about it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:18 AM) :

And the lesson is...hang around outside the LV store if you want to get photographed by Sart

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:23 AM) :

Sexy, open and inviting. What a pretty smile! Just makes you think of summer, lemonade and ice cream

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 AM) :

chic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:34 AM) :

Oh, it simply does not get any better. Fraîche comme une rose!

Blogger will anderson said ... (11:59 AM) :

looks like someone took dance all through junior high. it paid off. she's got a beautiful smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:14 PM) :

I think the proportions are all wrong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 PM) :

wow, she looks amazing! i love the tone-on-tone...how sophisticated yet summery and light-hearted at the same time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 PM) :

More BFM!

I thought this blog was about style, not fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:02 PM) :

She looks like a modern grecian goddess!
There's something in the water in NYC - women there really get themselves and they really get fashion!
Great picture Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:07 PM) :

Another Louis Vuitton worker???

Beautiful Suhali bag

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 PM) :

What a tremendously sexy, late-30is, 40ish or post-40ish woman. Wow, wow, wow. Not sure about the meaning of such a woman showing so much leg, but she pulls it off devastatingly. Wow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:41 PM) :

those shoes are absolutely beautiful.

Blogger FR said ... (1:58 PM) :

ethereal...

Blogger Bobi Shumann said ... (2:20 PM) :

I love the colors, and her smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:48 PM) :

whoa! what a great shot, a great dress, a great smile, a great tan!

Blogger JO said ... (3:02 PM) :

Love the dress and the bubble sleeved sweater... she looks so comfy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:11 PM) :

looooove that dress

Blogger Michael said ... (3:34 PM) :

Oh, my!
Am I blushing?

Blogger Vanessa said ... (3:47 PM) :

Cool, calm, and collected!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:25 PM) :

Beautiful smile, but the clothes don't really do her justice. I think this is the case where the trend and the person/body type don't seem to correspond.

Blogger glamour girly said ... (4:49 PM) :

Oh, wow. I love it, and the shoes and shot of yellow just make it amazing. Effortless glamour.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:46 PM) :

It's a beach dress--even in the summer NYC is the city.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

wow, that's a very nice outfit :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:26 PM) :

That smile, the way the sun's bathing the right side of her neck and shoulder, the legs crossed just so, that face...

Clothes, eh? Oh fine, fine...

But that smile, those lips... [Sigh] from guy - about to get back to work - in Scotland.

Wow! Scott... Thanks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 PM) :

There is something so quintessentially "last week of May" about this look. The colour pallet being decidedly summer, but the cardigan suggesting still a hint of spring in the air. Sweet, delicate and endearing all around.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:13 PM) :

She looks great. What a good look for the early days of summer. Despite the bag hanging off her right shoulder and then her purse in her right hand - I think this look really works.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:25 PM) :

can someone tell me how tall the sartorialist is?

I think I saw him in SoHo today...

Blogger Sile Convery said ... (8:15 PM) :

I like the monochromatic color scheme but the style of the dress--specifically the length--and the bolero---looks a bit grannyish---doesn't do much for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:46 PM) :

I like her bag!

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (9:03 PM) :

Wow! What an amazing photo!?!?

That trapeze/baby doll dress is a hard one to pull off but she did it perfectly. She has the long legs and the swan like neck to make this dress work for her Anything less will make it look like Courtney Love.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 PM) :

Aww. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:20 PM) :

it's all in that bag!
AMAZING!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 PM) :

Is a frame bag really considered trendy anymore? Considering the LV Suhali L'Ingenieux, though GORGEOUS, is at least 3 years old, I don't think the frame is still The It Bag style. THE frame bag was probably the Celine Clandestine bag, right? 2 years ago. So you see what I mean.

Now if she'd been carrying a quilted Chloe Bay, she'd be much closer to trendy.

see, i think the detail is what makes a look stylish. and i think a gorgeous blue Louis Vuitton bag in a timeless style, even one several seasons old, keeps her from being simply trendy, and gives her a bit of personal style. not to mention she's so fresh and adorable looking that I bet she'd make Old Navy look good ...

Blogger SartoriallyAddicted said ... (11:59 PM) :

Sart,

It appears to me that you are posting many more women than men of late. Please find a better balance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:10 AM) :

i have absolutely no complaints about this outfit whatsoever. her confidence and grace pulls this bit together even more-so. great find; bravo, sart! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:11 AM) :

p.s. ESPADRILLES!!! (hahha, toldjasoooo...)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:50 AM) :

She is cute, and the colors are refreshing. Great bag and shoes too.

However, I think that she's working too many trends at once. Also, I don't think that the dress and cardigan flatter her figure...where IS her figure???

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:47 AM) :

Sartorialist--
My friend and I have continually discussed the photos your website this past year. Both of us mentioned your website in each other's yearbook. I'm sure we'll talk about this outfit at school tomorrow. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:05 AM) :

Sart, do all these girls have such great smiles walking down the street, or does everyone just glow when you say you like their outfit? Either way, it's nice to see.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (4:47 AM) :

Summer's here! Love this

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:17 AM) :

oooh i love that bag. i've only ever seen it in white but blue's perfect for summer.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:17 AM) :

She's divine! So elegant and simply chic. The blue and yellow are perfect with the neutrals of her dress.

Blogger Ellen said ... (8:37 AM) :

How fresh she looks and I love the pale blue bag.

Blogger Jennifer said ... (10:47 AM) :

lovely.
love the polish on the toes but not the fingers.
love the colors. love the shape of the dress and i think that broad hem keeps it feeling perfectly appropriate for the city, just refined enough. great shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:07 AM) :

Very feminine and appropriate for a "summer in the city" look. Young, carefree, but ladylike for this particular day and age.
Lovely shot, Sart. xoxo, Lady

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:41 PM) :

I could kill for that LV bag! =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:21 PM) :

This woman is very well put together. It looks effortless. But her smile is what really caught me. It is what makes her gorgeous to looks at.

Blogger Karen Morgan said ... (5:36 PM) :

For some reason, I'm just not on board here. The bag is gorgeous but I'm not so sure it flows with her very billowy dress and slouchy cropped cardigan. This just annoys me...sorry.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:05 PM) :

Graceful, radiant in such small light clothes. She conveys the timeless joy of summer.

Blogger Jenny Lee Lark said ... (8:16 PM) :

best hem of the season

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:45 PM) :

What amazes me about this outfit is the fact that she's showing a ton of skin but, unlike the young lady above her, she doesn't look too bare. She looks like summer, but not like the beach, if that difference makes any sense.

Blogger anna said ... (5:25 PM) :

I sooooo want that bag. And I'm not even a fan of the color blue...

Blogger Chloe Bee said ... (3:12 AM) :

I love that she managed to work a several seasons old Louis bag into her look. WONDERFUL!

Blogger m said ... (8:26 PM) :

Easy, breezy, beautiful....
