September Vogue
I am no where close to to really looking at the new September Vogue the way I want. So what do you think are the best articles? Overall the issue looks good on a flip through. What about the "Fight Club" article by Sarah Mower on Japanese designers? The Irving Penn photos look incredible

post a commentFor that matter, anybody see the new issue of "Men's Vogue?" I've seen it on the stands but haven't glanced through it yet.
It's a great issue: really substantial and it's even enjoyable to steal ideals from the new fall ad campaigns.
My favorite two articles are the "What's your shape?" article, which discusses various ways to wear the 'new volume' and I like the idea behind "Mood indigo", which is about how to wear skinny jeans. The execution, however, of the latter article stinks. The author seems to have been chosen because she's the daughter of the owner of a trendy clothing store and despite the fact that she's a size 2, petite, and - to quote her article - "a true size 26". How exactly does this help the vast majority of people learn how to adapt skinny jeans???
Of the photography-based articles, I like the clothes in "Speak volumes" and the images in "The Maine event" - especially the facing photos on pages 714 and 715. The boardwalk leading to the lighthouse in the background and the color/texture contrasts between the velvety blue water and the worn wood planks of the boat are pure poetry.
I loved Sarah's article! She is amazing!!!
But overall the issue is really weak, I hated the cover and the cover story. September issue should be about fashion, not about film costumes! Very disappointing, and apparently most of the editors were against that story appearing in Sept issue. Too bad they didn't succeed.

i have to disagree with the two anonymous comments, while i did enjoy the "Fight Club" article the issue was lacking substance, something new and something interesting - compared to the August Issue - its a 4 - The August issue is still, hands down the most interesting issue they have produced in almost 10 years!!!!!!!
I got more inspiration from the ad campaigns than the editorial...thoug I agree that "What's your shape?" was really well done and quite useful.
Kirstin Dunst on the cover though? Come onnnnnn. If they want to have the feature on Marie Antionette, fine, it was fun and beautifully shot. But the cover? Arrrghhhghggvvv.
At least the cover isn't Lindsay Lohan. Do they all get together and trade magazine covers? First Bazaar, then Elle! Kirsten's cover is simply homage to Sofia, frankly.
How about we have a few more models and less celebrities on the covers? Last month Vogue said the supermodels were back - well then, keep 'em coming!
I hated the sept. issue of vogue (enjoyed the august one, though)--and I'm sick to death of celebrity worship.
That's why I'm addicted to this site--real people!
I thought the "What's your shape" article felt very 1970's Glamour Magazine. As a woman in the 21st century, I am all those shapes depending on my mood.
Natalia's red wig reminded me of one of your posts from Paris. The young women with the Louise Brooks bob.
"The Maine Event" photos were just plain ugly and I love Arthur Elgort.
was really disappointed with the Sept issue of US VOGUE. the articles were flat. like you said it was just a good flip through. would recommend buying it only if you want to have a look at the fall ads. :\
i must agree with all these reviews. poor and then some. I was a giddy schoolgirl on my way to buy it, despite not being a kirsten fan nor really a sofia coppola fan (though i think she would have been a much better covergirl!) Frankly, it put me to sleep - even the ads. And, I'm happy that Kate Moss is thriving but it's a little ridiculous that she's in every. single. campaign. Didn't we learn a lesson from her: everything in moderation?
Though the August issue was much better, I still enjoyed this one. It wasn't half as bad as September's Vanity Fair. VF is supposed to be the style issue with Kate Moss on the cover, but was quite disappointing. And not once have I ever been disappointed by style.
I loved the historical article on Marie Antoinette, and can't wait to see the flick!
im so hanging out for this issue to land in my mailbox!! I hope its super thick like all September issues!
Fight Club was good but I'd rather see rhino mice.
